Zatch Bell!

Nov 7, 2023

Can't go wrong with this one, lads: comedy, righteous beat-downs, yellowtail. This series has it all. Also, best anime movie of all time, Attack of the MechaVulcan. 100/10 Ignore that one 9/10 rating I gave one of the options - so it's an early 2000s anime. Does that mean it's not worthy of a perfect score? NO. Does it mean I should give it a free pass and literally give it a flawless score for nostalgia reasons alone? ALSO NO. Go watch it. Tell your 12 grandchildren to watch it. Watch the 4Kids dub first, shriek in horror for +100 episodes until you get to the juicy good real show for a measly 40... See full review

Sugar Apple Fairy Tale: Part II

Sep 23, 2023

It feels so rare these days to find an anime that releases where the first part felt very up and down and the second part was almost a straight 10/10. Normally it's the opposite, if either one is highly rated at all. The first season felt clunky but with an excellent premise, one or two really good characters, and pretty visuals. This season had the benefit of utilizing an established world, working on a single story arc (much different than season one) and taking it's very sweet time utilizing the plot points and characters to their full potential, and basically just being an enticing, exciting... Sweet Reincarnation

Aug 23, 2023

So I like isekai anime. I love baking sweets. How can it be that I am thoroughly disliking this show, an anime supposedly focused on the combination of these two ideas? I will open this review by saying I've just finished episode 6, so I am only working with the material through this episode. Story: The story is actually rather interesting and plays well on the isekai tropes of a main character, reincarnated from the modern day and able to apply some of those knowledge bits to improve his position in the world and help those around him. He gains magic which seems quite capable of becoming overpowered but... See full review

The Rising of the Shield Hero

Nov 8, 2021

The premise is quite good, and the story started on a strong note as the main character immediately is given a sympathetic situation. I was engaged and interested to see how the Naofumi struggled and grew bitter at his unfair treatment, especially given that hints were dropped throughout the season regarding world building and historical explanations for current-day events. Unfortunately, the interesting set up of the first two episodes barely comes to fruition and is largely overshadowed by harem stereotypes, lack of actual world building (why do demi-human nations worship the Shield Hero? This is never... See full review

Fate/stay night

Nov 21, 2013

I shall not be making a particularly formal review, though I would like to address specific key points from the series. On the Story: As a person who watched the prequel, Fate/Zero, before this series, I will do my best to keep my opitions unbiased to the best of my ability. The plot of Fate/Stay Night is slow, confusing, and very disjointed. An important character is met once early on in the series, then does not appear again nor is even mentioned until the very last few episodes. The plot is very sexist, as the main character Shiro, as well as many other male characters, refers to women as needing... See full review

One Piece

Jan 6, 2010

This series is like a book. A very wild, random, and emotional book full of adventure and friendship. The main character, 17 year old Monkey D. Luffy, sets out on a quest to become the King of the Pirates with overwhelming confidence in himself and his friends, a dream which he has longed to fulfill since he was 7 years old. On his journey, he meets many people and creatures, friends and foes, companions and enemies. His fun-loving and naive nature get himself and his friends into trouble constantly, but no one can resist the charming little-kid-attitude pirate that is Luffy. The Story- The... See full review
