Fate/stay night: TV reproduction

Feb 6, 2012

I will not analyze this OVA in terms of storyline, character development or animation/sound, since this is, in my opinion, just a recapitulative episode on steroids. So, there are two possible situations in which you should watch these two OVAs: 1) for the sake of completeness 2) you don't have enough time/pacience to watch the original series and you need a brief summary because you want to watch Unlimited Blade Works or Fate/Zero or you want to play the visual novel (in my case :D) As a recap episode, TV Reproduction does its job. However, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who... See full review

Future Diary

Oct 31, 2011

This review is SPOILER FREE. Also, I wrote this when there were 6 episodes aired. I don't usually watch ongoing anime (except for Fairy Tail, Naruto and Bleach) because I want to devour a series in one huge gulp. But I think I made the correct choice when I began watching Mirai Nikki. This show gets better and better every single episode and the fact that I have to wait a whole week to see what the heck happens next, only serves to increase my enjoyment of the anime. Right, back to the review. The story is very clear but, at the same time, very thought inducing. The first episode already oozes with... See full review

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kira

Jul 25, 2011

WARNING! This review CONTAINS a small storyline spoiler. I was more than happy when I first found out that Kira will be aired starting this summer. As I pranced around while imagining the sweet sound of Rena chopping away at someone, I heard a small voice in my head saying something like this: "Glad you're happy mate, but do you remember Rei? Then my world came crashing down and while I trembled in horror at the thought of another moe-fest, I slowly and carefully began watching the newest installment of the Higurashi series. I'm gonna be honest. I enjoyed the first episode, but that wasn't... See full review

Clannad Movie

Jun 7, 2011

This review does NOT contain any storyline spoilers. I will state from the beginning. I. hated. this. movie. I felt like I have lost something extremely precious to me after I watched this movie. Then I figured out: besides the 2 hours of my life wasted, I lost Clannad. Confused? Carry on reading. This movie took the masterpiece of character development and fantastic love story that is Clannad, beat it down with a tire iron, ran it over, beat it some more, then threw it off the bridge with a block of cement. This is no Clannad. Although I know that movies are not supposed to follow the TV series to the... See full review

Clannad: Another World, Tomoyo Chapter

Jun 7, 2011

This review does NOT contain storyline spoilers of any kind. Due to the fact that Clannad was a visual novel at heart, these "alternate world" OVAs came out. I'm kinda divided. I played the VN after I watched the anime and I feel that both Kyou and Tomoyo deserve more. But then, I watched the OVA again and I've finally settled down to a conclusion: they're good. They managed to compress a beautiful story (albeit, a side story) into 24 minutes of pure masterpiece. All the characteristics of the original Clannad are there: the real emotions, the romantic development, the anger, the... See full review

Clannad After Story

Jun 7, 2011

This review does NOT contain storyline spoilers of ANY kind. Clannad - After Story represents, in my opinion, the true jewel of the series. Most of the cast is gone, the story focusing more on the relationship development of Tomoya and Nagisa. Oh, and what a development. If you thought Clannad was good, then After Story is better. It reproduces with high fidelity one of the most beautiful love story I have ever seen: with it's ups and downs, struggles, tragedies, exquisite memories...All of it. This anime will pull you into its world, it will play with your emotions, it will drive you to... See full review

Clannad

Jun 7, 2011

This review does NOT contain storyline spoilers of ANY kind.   First Impression So, Clannad. I heard about this anime when I was browsing an anime tracker. I saw a torrent, "Clannad.1080p.FLAC" and I said to myself: "Hmm, nice quality, interesting name, good ANIdb score...Let's give it a shot". Then I noticed: "based on a visual novel" and I rolled my eyes. But since, I already downloaded it, I reluctantly made the decision to watch it nonetheless. Oh boy, was I in for a shock. This anime has climbed to number 1 in my personal "Best Drama Anime Eva' "... See full review

Elfen Lied: In the Passing Rain

Jun 7, 2011

This DVD special brought a much-needed explanation to the relation between Nana and Nyuu/Lucy. Also, the flashback into Lucy's memories only furthers the character development. I enjoyed both the light-hearted competition in the start and the more mature ending. In any case, this should be watched between episodes 10 and 11.

Elfen Lied

Jun 7, 2011

This review does NOT contain story-related spoilers. First Impression What attracted me for the first time to this anime was the unusual name. Likewise, all the episodes have German names, which also striked me as odd. Not to mention the half-naked girl in the cover. So, I thought to myself: "Let's see what's this about". After being mesmerized by the eerily beautiful intro song, I was brutally (and I underline  brutally) awaken from my slumber by the first 5 minutes of the show. You'll know what I mean, when you watch it. My next thought was: "Holy freaking s**t" and I... See full review

When They Cry: Rei

Jun 6, 2011

This is my original review for Higurashi. This OVA should be watched by fans, for the sole purpose of being able to say: "I've watched everything Higurashi-related." It's not terrible, but Rei is just NOT Higurashi. Just go watch the main series again.   Higurashi TV series Review. This review does NOT contain storyline spoilers.   Welcome to Hinamizawa. Allow me to share my opinion on one of the best mystery anime out there. First, I would like to start with.... When They Cry: Kai

Jun 6, 2011

This review does NOT contain storyline spoilers.   Welcome to Hinamizawa. Allow me to share my opinion on one of the best mystery anime out there. First, I would like to start with.... Storyline True enough, the main appeal of this anime is, of course, it's storyline. Higurashi is divided into chapters, each 4-5 episodes long. In each chapter, another character becomes the "main character". In other words, we see the story unfolding from different perspectives. The idea in it's self isn't new to the anime world, but the implementation is absolutely fantastic.   The whole anime... See full review
