Hi,

I'm actually more of a tea person. I like to take photos of birds among other things. I live a modest life, happily getting by on a day-to-day basis. I've spent hundreds of hours travelling on trains. I am a music fan before anything and I also enjoy classic literature and foreign cinema. Food is also one of the best things in life.

I volunteer as a character and people moderator here on Anime-Planet so it's possible you're reading this because I left you a comment in regards to a submission.

I'm hoping to use the blog feature here more frequently in the future. I like to submit reviews when I can though I don't expect many to read them as they can be very long. I could make typing an Olympic sport.

My star ratings are based on a system of absolute jack shit.

Sorry for the belated response. I’m attending BSA NCS in the middle of Nowhere, North Carolina, so internet access is a little limited.

I really made that list for titles that I constantly get asked about (online and in person), and you're the first person to ask about Beserk. Honestly, my problem with Beserk was entirely on my end. I've never really cared for high fantasy as a whole (with a few very scarce exceptions), and I really didn’t care for the character designs as a whole. As for its status as a Manga adaptation; I'm of the mind that yes, an anime’s source manga can be used to gauge certain aspects, but I get angrier at anime that rely on the audience having read the associated manga or that simply make straight adaptations even when certain elements don’t translate well from one media to another. I prefer adaptations that can stand on their own as a separate work and benefit from the presence of the source material rather than relying on it.

Final FantasyVII is also is partially on my end; I simply never enjoyed the games (I prefer games where the player directly controls characters rather than commanding them, hence why I’ve never really enjoyed strategy games). However, another part of my distaste goes back to what I said earlier about source material; I’ve never played the game, so it was nearly impossible for me to follow what was going on, and the crash course at the beginning just kind of made things worse. If a movie is adapted from a game/movie/comic/etc, I belive that it should (a) be entertaining on its own merits, and (b) make the viewer want to try out the related media afterwards. FFVII did neither for me.

PS: I seem to have been banned from even viewing the forums at some point over the past five days. Any idea when and/or why this happened?

Thanks a lot for the criticism, I found it very helpful!

As for the Anme itself, I don't see the point of debating it either; I doubt we'd ever reach a conclusion. Shows like Shigurui can be discussed for all eternity, it still comes down to a matter of taste. I'm considering picking up the manga though. I've heard it's a lot better, and if it can be disturbing without ultraviolence, all the better!

Yo! Thanks for commenting on my review and for the warm welcome. I loved the Berserk Series so much that I just had to put my two cents in.  Any sugggestions for me for a new anime series?  I usually only watch action, I've watched Trigun, Samuraii Champloo, about half of Yu-Yu-Hakusho, Reign: The Conqueror, most Dragonball stuff and alot of Cowboybeebop, whcih are all very awsome. None of them quite as all encompassing as Berkserk though, I was so taken by the series. I'm not really into anime romace but i found myself very much in love with the way it was portrayed in Berserk.  It was far from the bulk of the series, but the underlying currents were present and (in my opinion) came out at the right times.  The war style plot with focus on individual clashes was right down my alley, just like Alexander (although I liked that series more for the weird mystcism and obscure historical refrences than its action) I've watched the first few of Claymore and so far dont feel a big draw towards it, the invincable lifeless angel seems pretty far on the spectrum from Gut's passionate good will hunting type awsomenes (although I havent watched enough to know).  I've herad Fist of the North Star, Ghost in the Shell, or Bleach might be similar but I havent really explored them yet.I'd say my favorite element in an anime is character development. I find it hard to care about a story if the protagonists are all just typical anime characters.  In Berserk you dont really know whos good and whos evil which kept me intrested. Anyway, I could go on all day about what I like and dislike, but I would like to hear from you, cause you look like you have aquired a sophisticated taste for anime.
