I am a person. I am very much a person.
I'm relatively new to this stuff, but I'm coming along well. I'm somewhat unusual in that I haven't watched some of the necessarily more main-stream animes like One Piece(I think; I don't actually know enough about which is which to rate what is the most popular, so I shouldn't even say that).
When it comes to anime, I usually just bumble around, stumbling across new ones. My general philosophy is "If it is rated 3.5 or higher, I'll consider. If it is 4 or higher, I'll most likely add it to my Want to Watch list". I look for unique ones, or ones that fit my tastes. I'm not a fan of ecchi, but if the story is good, and I like everything else about it, I'll ignore the ecchi part.
I tend to take great interest in the characters of an anime. They tend to be as important to me as the plot itself. I like character-driven plots, and if I get attached to a character, there's a good chance I will be hooked. That's probably one of the big reasons I like Touhou (I don't even play the games). It has lots of unique characters.
I'll admit, that when I watch TV, I can stomach literally anything that is on. I will usually turn it to something I like, but if someone else is watching, I'll probably let it be. My incredible ability to watch almost anything means it is unlikely I will rate something low or have many negative comments... but I don't really get into the story unless it is at least somewhat good.
Due in part to the previous statement, I'm not very good at giving ratings. I either like it, or I don't. I could give a detailed description, but it would be easier to just say; Even though quality level can take many different forms, I usually think in terms of black and white, and am aware of this, so I prefer to not bother reviewing or rating.
I like manga because it usually has more content than the animes that stem from it, but the only one I am actively reading is Mahou Sensei Negima (The anime for that sucked.)
I should also add that I try to watch just one anime at a time. Even great animes can be completely abandonded if I forget to watch it for a day, so I try to keep my focus on one until it is done.
