In my last post, I lamented over the fact that I have gotten so terribly behind in my watch list. OTAKON changes people. ;P This year marked my 10th year in attendance, and the con always tends to incite the same reactions in me:
1) I need more free time.
2) I really would like to watch more anime/play more video games.
3) See, I have these really great cosplay ideas....
4) Yeesh, I need to work out.
5) Oh yeah, and I need more free time.
I am beginning to catch up, though. I finished watching Sayonara, Zetsubo Sensei this weekend, and now I'm working on all of my stalled series. Shigurui was the first to go. I really wish that I could have rated it a 5, but I'm still debating over the 4 that I gave it. There were just a few finer points that were missing. I feel like my English 102 professor, my freshman year of college. When I asked why I got a B+ on a paper, when there were several students whose papers were significantly less developed--or coherent, for that matter--and who received higher marks, he told me that he knew I was a good writer, and that I was capable of more. He pushed me--and my buttons--for the entire semester, and then asked me to be a tutor. I politely declined. I get it, though. "Good" demands "better," and there were a few things about the series that were inexcusable, in light of other "good" things.
I could say the same thing about life, at the moment. There are lots of good things happening, but they demand better. I'm working on it.
