Hey I'm goin' to bed, but I must say that the fifth episode was excellent. It put a lot of things in perspective for me. Did you check out any of my comments to bunny? It's okay if you didn't.

That's a long story. If you really want to know, I'll be talking about it in detail with two other anime-planet folk in maybe two weeks (WARNING: THAT MIGHT TURN OUT TO BE A FEW PAGES LONG). But I really didn't mind the ecchi at all, except for one particular episode at the beginning of the second season. I think they did a fairly good job of balancing the humor (even if it was somewhat low-brow) with the more serious parts. I enjoyed the story, for reasons I will again describe in the future. And I openly admit that in some ways the story WAS generic. In general, I like to describe the show as not being "special" in any particular way, but as being strong in all of them. Honestly you might have had a lot more experience in watching darker shows at the time of your viewing, than at mine. But at the time when I watched this show, it left an impression on me that few others shows have, mainly with regards to the themes the show discusses, and also because I thoroughly enjoyed the artwork in Shikabane Hime. Let it be known that I also watched SH live as it came out, so I had a week between every episode to let each episode percolate in my mind.

Woah, I just looked at your listings and realized JUST how much you didn't like SH. You must have seen something about it that absolutely ticked you off. Was it perhaps that in some ways it is fairly generic? It looks like you finished the second season, though. So was it perhaps the ending? This is very intriguing.

Agh! You didn't like Shikabane Hime? I'm not certain if you were aware, but that's one of my favorite shows. Of course, I must admit that it is a personal favorite for somewhat personal reasons, and that it is not universally accepted as a great show. But I know a lot of people (both people on and offline) who really liked the show, and frequently use the term "great" in describing it. Again, I ask what it was about the show that you didn't like. I'm sure you have plenty of good reasons for your opinion.

The corniness aspect at the end of Ga-rei zero was exactly what I didn't like.

And I'll let you know what I think about the fifth episode.
