The quality of anime this fall is so much better than summer. Still, there are some really boring shows. Actually I'd be happy with a few really excellent shows.
M3: Sono Kuroki Hagane: would I read the manga? I'm putting it on my want to read list although I don't know if I will read it. I don't think this was a bad anime. A bit melodramatic and emotional but I liked how there were a lot of questions they did not answer right away. It was world building and was done well. Still a weird ending with everything all wonderful when one would question how could that be after they all went through so much trauma. Not the worst Summer anime as some have claimed.
Mahou Shoujo Taisen: Would I read the manga? Well there isn't one so. However I did enjoy these short little pieces and would probably watch if there were more. It was a fanciful anime that wasn't too involving.
Barakamon: Would I read the manga? No. There is something about this anime that feels off. I don't know if "island" people in Japan are really the way they are portrayed in this or if they and other characters are more stereotyped than realistic. Some of the humor felt really forced too. I was not convinced of the lead's change of heart. I can't help but think this would have been better material for a live action show. If they did make a live action and it more slice of life I probably would watch that.
