Natsu no Zenjitsu

Nov 1, 2016

Natsu no Zenjitsu is one of those odd manga where you will feel terrible reading it, but it is impossible to put down. I started it, and found myself aching halfway through, and I couldn't stop. Its an intriguing story of the development of an artist and how his pain drives his painting.

The hardest part about this story is that is a tragedy... sort of. The way everything intertwines makes it really difficult to avoid feeling the same feelings as the main character.

Art: As always, Motoi Yoshida does a wonderful job in the art. The characters are all beautifully designed, and there are subtle differences in the way he shapes his faces that he can still make a tomboy appear feminine, even with masculine clothing.

Characters: The characters are amazing. Each of them starts out as a one sided flaw basically. Each person is just a thing that is wrong with them, but you keep getting more and more little things until they develop into full characters.  By the end of it, I felt that I knew each cast member personally, and not only that, from the same perspective as the main character. It is truly amazing how well Motoi Yoshida is able to capture this.

Overall: this is one of the best that I have ever read, but I still wouldn't suggest it to everyone. Read this if you are looking for something that has a good chance of making you sad.

9/10 story
10/10 art
9/10 characters
9/10 overall
