You got good taste in music and literature,and since Cowboy Bebop is in your anime top that means you have good taste in anime too.

I just happen to love death note a lot.... a lot a lot ><. I can see why some people don't like it as much ^^. If you haven't seen them, I'd suggest Simoun and Kaiba. Based on some of your tastes, I think you'd find these interesting. (Kaiba gives a Lain feel on some levels.... some. It's very "altertive awesome" just like Lain). Simoun is risky because many people are turned off by the yuri aspects, but there are strong character developments in the series, and exploration of gender issues.
