Personal anime watch list with rankings for my purposes. I've used a personal scale to determine my ranks. My rankings are not perfect and some shows may be ranked higher and lower than other individuals ranks based on personal bias.

Anime has been a constant in my life for 10+ years now. Sometimes being more important in a particular part of my life over others, but has always been there to come back to when I needed it. For me, anime is more than just something to watch. It's art, it's passion, it's dreams and ambitions. The power to motivate and captivate that only the tools available to creators have. It has near limitless possibilities and capabilities, if only to be limited by the mind of the creators. From epic shounen battles and deep meaningful philosophical or life inspiring moments, to moments that warm your heart and make you cry like a baby or want to hug or cuddle something for just being too damn adorable. Anime has everything, and it feels so good to be back again.

Ratings and review guidelines!

Rather than use an established chart or follow a standard when rating a series I typically ask myself a lot of questions before giving an anime a rating. Depending on what type of series it is that I am rating or reviewing I may add or disregard any of the following below. I wouldn't judge a typical romance series solely based on originality, right? Because it's been done a million times! Rather, I would focus more on execution and intent rather than originality. If you disagree with my ratings that is completely okay. Everyone has opinion and bias. If you wish to provide examples as to why you believe I am wrong I would love to hear them! I find difference in opinion interesting and by no way am stating that I am absolutely correct in my rankings. 

The following are a few of the questions I take into consideration when ranking a series.

Story: Does the series do a good job of story telling? Does it flow? It it consistent? Is consistency and execution even the intent of the producer?

Animation: Animation quality and consistency taking into the intent of the creator, production cost and year of release. Does the production team do a good job of using an appropriate style of animation to create the desired effects on the viewers?

Sound: How does the series use its sound? Does it use sound as a means to create emotion or build suspense? How is the quality of the sound? Is there originality or recyclization of music? Does the sound do a good job of providing the intended effects for viewers?

Originality: Did the series deviate from the norm? Did it provide a new idea or concept to an already established genre?

Intent: What is the overall intent of the series? Did it succeed in its purpose?

Adaptation: Is this an original work or an adapation? Was the original work successful? How far did the adaptation deviate from the original work. Did it have a positive effect or a negative effect?

Characters: Who are these people and why should I care? Do the producers do a good job of making people care about main characters? Is that even their intent? Are the characters consistent with their personalities? Are there out of place actions that seem out of character? Are they believable?

Enjoyment / Bias: How enjoyable overall is this series for me to watch? Taking every possible thing into consideration, was this really something I truly enjoyed? Why did I resonate with the series so much? Am I bias for a specific reason?
