As my college professional career swiftly progresses approaches, so too does my appreciation for anime grow. As such, I like to share my opinions about anime with people whenever I get the chance. I guess I'm an intellectual of sorts, so I really love discussing this stuff in detail. But you don't have to think of me as just the resident Ivy Leaguer (we're not as uptight as you think) ;). In addition to watching anime, I'm also a huge football fan and <was> an avid 360 gamer (Dishonored = Game of the Year last great game I played lol). I also regularly listen to Japanese music. Not just anime songs, I regularly keep track of the weekly Oricon charts.

I like(d) writing reviews in addition to discussing specific anime (both completed and ongoing). My review schedule is totally erradic now nonexistant, so but I'll try to keep a going log here on my Prof. I mostly watch the newest ongoing stuff nowadays, but I like to watch a completed series here and there (when I'm bored and don't want to get work done). I could really use some recs in 13 ep or less range. Actually probably just movies and OVAs are all I can manage now -_-.

So give me a shout out some time! :D Leave a profile comment, don't be shy I like talking to new people on the site :). And I'm always willing to discuss the latest series ;).

My new review rating system now basically mirrors my star ratings, but on a 10 scale and w/ a half point buffer to compensate. But considering I haven't written reviews in forever, my actual star ratings are far more important. I use pretty much a tiering system with my star ratings, each tier representing what I feel to be series of similar quality. Of course, the 4.5 and 5 tiers represent shows I really loved (the elite series) and the 4 tier would be the best of the rest (and that's no slight). I'm also constantly reassessing my star ratings to maintain consistency.

I now have an established history of recording what I'm watching ( /have watched) with Lists. Note that the lists are ranked, and the ongoing list I try to update weekly. As I try to emphasize, I only include series which I've watched ( /am watching), so if it's not there, I didn't watch it, so don't complain about it <please -_->. Note that I classify series by when they finish, not when they start. Ergo, for example, you'll notice I've labeled Steins;Gate as a Summer anime although it did in fact premier in the Spring. I've recently decided to make an exception with the 22 ep noitaminA series, which I will list under both seasons over which it aired. Of course, for the premiering season, the ranking accounts only for the events of the first half of the series. In case you were wondering this was because of Guilty Crown lol. And just like my ratings, Lists are to be considered fluid. I'm a firm believer in judging longevity almost as much as the immediate impression upon completion.

I finally made up a top 10 anime list! I just haven't posted it on the site yet... And it's been a while so who knows if it's accurate.. Yeah, not much of an announcement -_-.

Guess what... I posted it now ;).

It seems that Lists don't show on your main page anymore so please click on the tab at the top of the page and take a look. You can get a good feel for the kinda stuff I like. Now there's even character lists! And I just updated, hooray!!!

I do welcome recommendations, but in all honesty unless it's something ongoing or in a coming season, I probably won't get the chance to watch it right away (or anytime soon lol).

Lastly, I keep an open door policy, I'm not one for forums and such but I am regularly available on both gchat and skype now ^_^.

~ ~ Peace ~ ~

Never my fanart by the way, I have no artistic ability.

But if anyone wants to show off their art or just something they found,
I'd be more than happy to take a look :). Music too for that matter ^_^.

You'll notice my avas and sigs always come from ongoing series (at least they used to).

ava = ClariS (cause they're breaking up :( )
sig = Onodera + Kirisaki f/ Nisekoi (not that you can see it anymore...)
header = Super Peace Busters f/ AnoHana (1000 x 300 everyone for the header photos)

Princess Mononoke is great, though as far as Miyazaki goes, I think that nothing can surpass Spirited Away in my heart. Do you like Studio Ghibli's work?

I definitely need to watch Hotarubi. They were screening it at the con in my city but I missed it in favor of a lecture.

I think I considered watching Rinne before...or that I at least heard of its existence. Sidonia seems the most interesting of the three of your suggestions.

22 to 26 episodes - that's always been the ideal length of an anime to me. Long enough to allow good character development and viewer immersion, long enough to make the pacing just right but short enough to prevent dragging the plot out too much or making it too complicated for its own good.

I haven't watched the movie yet. I have it on my hard drive though so it's only a matter of time. I'll pass on my impressions when I watch it :).

Psycho-pass looks really really good and I like cyberpunk. Kind of reminds me of Speed Grapher in style. Have you seen that one? It's not my usual type of thing but the story's good.

By the way, how do you decide which anime to watch?

Okay, I'll do that. I have Ni no Kuni now anyway. It feels like I can satisfy my love for anime and games all in one go when I have the mood for it :).

Well, I enjoy fantasy like Juuni Kokki, Seirei no Moribito or Kemono no Souja Erin. Have you seen any of these?

I also like anime connected with board games, school clubs or some kind of skill or interesting activity. I realise this type of anime often offers rather generic plot but it's more that I like to discover various pieces of Japanese culture through it (or just get to know something about something new if the plot doesn't revolve around something specifically Japanese). Any suggestions in that aspect?

Right now, I'm watching Chihayafuru. The anime pretty much makes me want to try karuta myself, it certainly does well in promoting the game. As far as the story goes, while the themes aren't anything I haven't seen before, I think the execution is very well done.

Sci-fi can be great, too, though I haven't really developed a taste for mecha while the Japanese  seem to be very fond of it. I see you watched Steins; Gate, one of the anime I consider to be exceptionally good. What did you think about it, though?

I'm pretty much open to all genres so if you think I should really watch something and I haven't watched it yet, feel free to tell me.

Okay, I'll talk to you then :). I don't really know my way around this page though. Yet. Are there other ways of communication or is it just via comments?

I don't know if there's that much to tell. I'll be twenty soon, I'll start attending university in fall, I'm always frustrated I can't convince anyone to play mahjong with me because of all the yakus they would have to learn. I mentioned some of my other interests in profile. Besides that I like going to tea houses, watching bunraku videos. I used to be a tomboy and tried a lot of sports but kind of dropped anything during high school.

You mention Dishonered in your profile. How was it? I'm considering playing it but spent quite a lot of money on games this summer so I should tame myself.
