I'm more of a glasses man myself.

Before you read any of the below, I'd like to remind you that we all have differing opinions, perceive different anime with varying mindsets, and therefore may disagree as to how to evaluate certain anime. This applies to manga and light novels as well. Also, ponies.

If you're reading this, you either A) clicked it by accident and will close the tab now or B) are interested in my anime preferences.

Personally, I'm a Civil Engineer in New York. I spend most of my time these days playing video games and bugging my friends by saying "no I haven't watched the latest episode of [fill in the anime here]" while playing said games.

I'll watch pretty much any anime as long as I find it interesting. My favorite genres are varied, but I tend to enjoy high drama (a.k.a. melodrama or forced drama) more than anything else. There are some genres from which I tend to stay away, in particular the so-called "ecchi" genre. When attempting to judge an anime "objectively" (I will contend that this is impossible) there is one standard that I hold above all others, and it isn't a category you will find in site reviews. An anime's ability to affect the emotions of the viewer directly impacts the overall quality. If there is no emotional response, then the flashing images, sound, story, and even the characters mean nothing.

Generally my reviews follow the same criteria, just converted to a 10 point scale.

My pickle with Angel Beats! is actually over the whole product, with the ending one of the lesser problems. That said, drama is one of those genres where I find it easy to accidentally "let myself go", so to speak. Because of that, because I want a consistent rating scale, I tend to be excessively harsh towards these shows.

Oh, I did like it. /a/ may speak of "clannaids babby's first baww show?" but I think it was pretty touching. I just found the supernatural stuff a bit cheap. It's thrown in with little more explanation than "it's touching", and that sort of undermines what I see as the point of the show: to be human. ~AS~ was much better in that regard; episodes 10 to 21 were amazing and by themselves would be the best show ever no questions asked. But the first episodes were more of that supernatural stuff, and even having played the visual novel, the ending was just plain awful.

My rating for Kanon is due to similar reasons. As for Air, it gets a 3/5 because, even thought it had supernatural stuff, the thing was coherent drama. Rather than random magical afflictions, there is clearly established magic that contributes to the overall plot.

Mind, the ratings I have right now are possibly harsher than my actual views because I just knocked most show down by half a star to make my rating distribution how I think it should look.

Ehi XPlayer! Thanks a lot for your comment on my "Mars of destruction" review, I'm glad you found it entertaining. ^_^Well, actually, if you're one of those who actually enjoys watching the really bad stuff, who enjoys pointing out what's stupid or clichéd or all that "Mars" may very well be entertaining, especially if watched with some friends. XD A good "what the hell am I watching?" experience. :D But...yeah, it really is...bad. I mean, real bad.Oh, and I'm more of a glasses man, too! XD...........oh, Yuki. *_*

nah, they definitely chopped off a  huge amount of what makes RK so cool, even though in some other ways it is less shounen-y. I'll do as I said and go through the eps for ya.
