SPOILERS FOR BOKURANO EPISODE 13
There are several similarities between Puella Magi Madoka Magica and Bokurano, including an advanced physics explanation as to the motive of the villains. However, I believe Bokurano's explanation was even worse than Madoka's, as while Kyubey's explanation can be rationalized by interpreting it as half lies, Bokurano cannot evade the laws of physics that completely dismantle any rationality of the motive AND much of the internal conflict resulting from that motive. Allow me to explain.
Assuming:
Then there is still this gaping problem with Dung Beetle's explanation.
8. Whenever a battle takes place, possible worlds continue to proliferate as per the “many worlds interpretation.” Therefore, there will exist worlds where party A won the battle and worlds where party B won the battle, and therefore even if party A loses, there will continue to exist worlds where party A wins and therefore the universe is not completely destroyed.
9. Therefore, the question of morality is nullified, because even if you destroy a world, it will continue to exist, just not from your own perception of reality. The most logical action, knowing that your opponents will both live and die in some other branching world, is to protect yourself and your own consciousness in your perception of reality.
10. Also, the designation of which universe is to be kept is completely arbitrary. What reason does the "moderator" have for keeping the worlds where party A wins over the worlds where party B wins, assuming that there are an infinite number of both worlds?
11. In fact, by interfering and crossing worlds, the moderators are perpetuating the problem they are trying to solve by creating an infinite number of new world combinations where two universes that had never met now interact.
In summary, trying to “naturally select” universes is as futile as trying to extinguish the fires of hell, divide by zero, or travel faster than the speed of light know everything there is to know about the universe and all possible universes.
As with my other blog, please call me out if I’m saying anything incorrect.
I'm just amazed that you managed to get through thirteen episodes of Bokurano!
I definitely feel vindicated in having dropped it, now :P
