I'm mostly your average laid-back anime fan, not that much of an otaku, as I don't have a deep passion only for anime, but rather consider them a part of a much larger life experience... oh, but I don't read manga I'm afraid. I'm also a fan of japanese cinematography, especially of Akira Kurosawa's early movies.
As far as anime go, I must say that I enjoy the ones with SF, cyberpunk and/or adventure themes above all else, but then again anything that makes my brain work a little (preferably a lot) is worth my time. I don't have that much of an attraction to big-sword-fighting-robots-and-mechanoids, overly moe-type characters or highschool love triangles, but will occasionally watch an anime if it has an interesting storyline to go along with some of these elements. I also have a natural heterosexual tendency to dislike shounen-ai content.
If you'd like a recommendation, please check out my custom lists for starters. I've added everything that I consider memorable in there, and yes, they are ordered on an overall value basis, so you'll find the ones I consider most enjoyable at the top of each list.

Hey, yeah, no problem. Thanks for the recommendation! I actually just recently found that show, and put it on my "want to watch" list. I'll definitely watch it now. What's your interest in anime? I"m really new to this whole forum scene, so if you're up for it, I wouldn't mind talking. I find it interesting how, although you've somehow seen more than twice as many shows as I, the total number of episodes you've seen is actually a little less than my own.

Sa nu te superi ca-ti scriu in romana, dar sunt la faculta la limbi straine engleza, deci mi-a ajuns cu ea, si cu teoria ei cu tot.

Intr-adevar, de curiozitate am dat un compare list si pot spune ca ma depasesti ca anime vizionate, dar..cautand umpic am descoperit ca nu ai vazut:
Durarara - Sa nu te lasi indus in eroare de commenturi care descriu ce stiu eu ce povesti de dragoste, etc. Are ceva. Si nu e SF, dar iti spun ca merita pentru storyline si dinamica actiunii.
Gilgamesh - Foarte interesant,sumbru si SF.
Nightwalker - Un anime vechi, deci bun si cu cap. Stiu ca ai spus ca nu iti place shounen-ai-ul. Ei asta are cred ca maxim 4 scene cu asa ceva. Dar fara ele, povestea nu s-ar preta temei principale a animelui.
Ma mai uit pe lista ta si vad ce mi-a mai placut mie foarte mult si tu n-ai vazut. Bine, ma gandesc ca poate ai auzit sau ai dat un check titlurilor de mai sus...dar imi incerc si eu norocul :P
Asa.Eu sunt pe stall cu animele momentan, facultatea ma omoara. Dar mai prind un fest, niste scurt-metraje...insa, oficial, sa vad anime, sau sa am o lista, inca nu.
Si sa nu uit, eu iti recomand Kokuhaku de Tetsuya Nakashima. Mai sunt multe altele, bine, momentan imi vin in minte cele de genul horror. Insa, nu stiu daca digeri acest gen.
Te voi adauga si eu la friends, atunci cand am ceva timp voi avea de unde sa ma inspir :)
