Hyakka Ryouran: Samurai Girls is a mix of fighting, comedy and ecchi. The series centers around the main male character and his relationship with a series of different samurai girls. Together they try to figure out a series of mysterious dissaperances of girls that have the potential as "master samurais". At the same time, the student council leader of the "school" they are all attending is beginning to act strangely and to top it off, a girl falls from the sky and awakens in the arms of our male protagonist. What is going on?
The story is pretty straight-forward, but enjoyable nontheless. It has the development and introductions of new character, and a few plot twists as should be, but nothing mindblowing.
The animation is very unique. The coloring is very artisitc, using clear transitions and scenes in black and white. The series looks to drawn, ratter than animated. The occasional "inc" splattering on the screen adds a nice effect on the animation, but at times it can be just a little too much.
The sound is really nice. The voice actors do their job very nice, in particular one of my favourite voice actors: Rie Kugimiya, who has done several other great characters from shows like Fairy Tail, Fullmetal Alchemist, Shakugan no Shana and Toradora. The sound effects are not overly used, but not neither are they used too much. The quality of the sound is pretty nice.
The characters are pretty standard however. On a 12 episode show, you can only get so much, but you get the outline on who the characters are, and some of their values. Nothing much deeper than that though, as it seems the series focuses more on showing their breasts, than letting you know all about them.
Overall Hyakka Ryouran: Samurai Girls delivers. Great animation, funny comedy and breasts. If you don't like the series, you might be in the wrong genre, but one taste isn't equal to another so all I can say is this: Do you like fighting, comedy and boobs? Then you can't go wrong with this show.
