Full metal panic is best watched in order. Normal then fumoffu then the second raid.
And you said you werent really into romance but were still open to it. In that case I would just watch some of the better ones.
School Days ( probly the most realistic romance drama ive seen in an anime, relationships have sad patches so don't watch if that annoys you)
Chobits ( I thought it was good but it is kinda hit or miss with viewers)
Please Teacher ( I liked it but again hit or miss)
I picked these ones cuz they demonstrate different genres in the romance category.
Personally I liked Please Teacher and School days alot.
