Maybe berserk just isn't your cup of tea if you heard about it from a friend. Just so we're on the same page I'm talking about the original anime adaption that's just titled Berserk with 25 eps.  I'm not talking about the recent "Berserk (2016)" anime. In my opinion that was awful, the animation was awkward, and it didn't follow the manga. It skipped around and rushed too much and it doesn't have the Berserk feel to it. I even forgot to mark it on the site since I wanted to wipe it from my memory (successfully did too lol). I Had to drop it after about 3 eps even though I hate dropping anime that I started. The movies are actually much better in comparison. Actually, the movies aren't as bad as I remembered. Berserk is indeed on the older side of anime, but I think it's worth giving it a watch even if you dislike old anime. It really captures the feel of the manga, and I think it correctly portrays Guts. So you'll know if you like it enough to read the manga or not (I reccomend either watching the Berserk anime first and then going to the manga if you want to continue the story, or jump right to the manga if you're comfortable with that). Anyways, this is if you decide to watch it in the first place. I Just wanted to give my thoughts and opinions incase you do. Ah, yes I was honestly disappointed myself when I heard it wasn't a contiuation of season 1. DanMachi Sword Oratoria is actually a spinoff not a season 2 to be specific. It's based on the Sword Oratoria Light Novels. It takes place on the same timeline during season 1 and focuses around Aiz and the Loki family which go down 58+ levels, if you remember from the first season, so it should be pretty badass since it covers the dungeon more and focuses on the high level adventures and monsters. I hear the novel is darker compared to DanMachi. I wish it was a season 2 but I heard its going to be good.  Oh, when I say male lead or male main character im not disregarding the female heroine. In DanMachi for example I'd call Aiz the main heroine, but I'll still call DanMachi an anime with a strong (or becomes strong) male main character :p.  There's tons of anime I haven't watched. There's many popular ones I simply don't want to watch like Naruto. I also never got further than the second season of durarara think I got bored, can't remember lol. I just feel I watched everything that's up my alley and ones I think I would really like, that's why I rewatch the anime I already watched. There are tons of anime I never bothered with because they have tags I don't like, or are poorly rated and don't want to bother giving them a chance. Not to mention there are tons of old anime I haven't touched. I'm thinking of putting my focus on watching more of the classic anime since there's probably tons I havent heard of that I would like.  In 2012 I began using this site merely for keeping track of what I watched not anything else, of course soon after I decided to use other marks like dropped, want to watch, etc. But as you know by now, I love anime so I don't think there's an anime out there that I wouldn't watch, actually I just avoid watching them and just leave them unmarked since I might watch it in the future. The anime I dropped are one's I'd have up on won't watch if I could go back in time before I watched them though lol. That's a crazy hard question for me haha. I can't think of it on top of my head, ill have to get back to you on that one :p. BTW could you tell me what kind of anime you like the most or what you like to expect in anime (not just tags). I can probably whip up a decent recommendation list of anime you'll enjoy, since just listing what I like might be too different from your tastes. And there's too much anime Id reccomend haha.

Yeah, I had my fair share of people issues with forums haha. I prefer animeplanets community when compared to larger sites like myanimelist. Animeplanet has more kind people that seem to respect each others opinions and tendencies towards anime if you ask me. I just started using the comments fairly recently and I'm not really active on the animeplanet forums yet but these are my first impressions (same with myanimelist, I only use it on occasion to see if there are any updates or confirmations of upcoming anime).  There were certainly times that I stopped watching anime for long peroids of time, but it happened more when I first started watching anime. Now I seem to always have something to watch or manga to read lined up even if I have to turn to rewatching or rereading my favorites which I also like doing. I think it's more normal to be away and take beaks, even if it's something you love to do. It can mean you have more important things in life to prioritize, or it can mean you're getting a bit bored. Which I think getting bored and finding yourself away from anime is a good sign because when I get bored I turn to more anime or manga. When I don't have anything lined up next or I think I've seen everything up my alley I rewatch. Of course I'm only talking in regards to anime and manga. It's not like I don't have other hobbies during my freetime.

To be honest I find a 5 five star rating system a bit hard to work with compared to a 10. I noticed my ratings would always end up very close to the avg overall rating. It didn't bother me at first but it was just too consistant. For me it's hard to score anime. I will want to look at the anime from all angles and be really thorough before I score it. Maybe because im tad bit a perfectionist and maybe because I find it hard to rate something I love even if it's a "bad" anime.  I actually had even more anime unrated in the past. I only rated the anime that absolutly blew my mind to the point where I didn't have to think to give it 5 out 5. I ended up changing my outlook a little. Instead of rating like a critic I started rating in a more free willed manner by changing my mindset to my personal tastes disregarding to some degree as to whether it's a quality anime or not. Most are still unrated, but I intend to rate most of them. I'm also having to rewatch lots of anime due to memory and because my taste somtimes change.

Yeah, there's some older people I met online with much longer anime experience than me and still watch anime to this day. They tend to lean towards older anime though, which is definitly understandable. I remember seeing 2 or 3 others with around a year on their list, but I had to look for them myself haha. I've noticed it really depends a lot on personal taste with anime but I can make a list in a bit :). Naming a few off my head will end up bothering me later after remembering anime that I should of recommended instead :p. But it's all in personal opinion if you ask me. From looking at your list our tastes aren't too far apart :). You seem to be watching lots of great anime Ill give you my opinion on a few you seem to be watching :). Henneko on your watching list is one I really enjoyed, loved the main characters. Since I love anime like Trinity Seven and D-Frag and really Enjoyed Undefeated Bahamut Chronicle, and The Asterisk War. There's a good chance you'll like this one. (One guy surrounded by a bunch of girls is always a good sign for most guys xD especially if the MC is OP. Love it.) World Break: Aria of Curse for a Holy Swordsman is one I rewatched many times. If you're the type who loves anime that's action in nature with a Overpowered male lead that kicks ass while surrounded by girls you should like it this :). To Aru Majutsu no Index and its sequal is quite popular and I really like like it. It's side series Aru Railgun is good aswell but I grew a bit bored with all the girl interaction after a while but it's a good anime and I did watch them all. It's my personal preference that I prefer male main characters. Vampire Knight is one I hopped into without realizing it's a shoujo anime  (incase you dont know, basically it's more geared towards girls) I forgot too much of it to give an opinion since it was a while back but I forced myself to finish it because as I hate putting anything other then watched anime on my list. It doesn't mean a guy can't like it of course but I rarley enjoy them and tend to avoid anime with that tag in general. I do remember enjoying Yona of the dawn though.  Natsume Yuujinchou is a fantastic watch. It's a gentle anime with a great story and that goes for all the sequels. It might be a bit slow paced for some but Its a very engaging anime, the stories will keep you watching. It's quite emotional yet leaves you with a good feeling or sense of being afterwards. May not be the type of anime to binge watch but it makes you keep comming back.  Fullmetal Alchemst brotherhood is great. I won't hype it like lots of others do but it's a much watch for an anime fan if you ask me.  Mirai Nikki is one of my favorites I won't say much but I don't think you'll regret putting it higher on your priority list >:). BUT NOT higher than Steins;Gate I can honestly say Steins;Gate is one of the top 3 best anime I have ever watched. I can't decide on a top 3 let alone a top 10 since there's too much great anime to consider. I would even say that you should make the time to watch it right now. You're in for a treat with both Mirai Nikki and Steins;Gate if you ask me. Of course its my opinion haha. Now that I look at your list closer your watching a hell of a load good anime lined up. I could go on forevor lots of them pop out for me but I think I made it quite long enough haha. Was thinking of just listing the anime I enjoy that's already on your watching list but most of them are good, seems you already scoped out a few that are good.  I see you dropped Berserk. I'm a die hard Berserk fan. From all the anime, manga, and light novels that I read Berserk is my number #1. I can't even describe why in good detail since the reasons are simple and right to my taste. My avatar is of Guts from Berserk if you haven't noticed (I knew your avatar in a heartbeat, it's an anime I love afterall. Bell Cranel makes one hell of a good main character). The first original Berserk anime is just about the first volume which is called "The Golden Days". It's funny because the anime is so well known for its gore, violence, and adult content when the truth is you haven't seen a thing yet until you read the manga. Nothing even starts in the anime, it just shows how it all began. The real Hell begins in the manga and it makes you truly believe those days were golden. The anime is good (my opinion of course) and I think it's better than the movies they are comming out with. In fact I can barley stand the movies (won't get into it). I can see many reasons why you were put off by it. Your definitly not the first person I talked to who hates it. All I can say is read the manga.  Sorry, went off too much about berserk. But anyways this is one hell of a tower of words I built. I'd call it an Essay instead if I was a better writer :).

Hey :). I had a bit too much time on my hands and got pretty addicted to anime, a lot of the time is due to rewatches since I've been also keeping track of that since it was added to animeplanet :p. Thinking of not adding the rewatches to my list since it's been pretty embarressing after I got the 1year on anime badge. Just thought what am I doing with my life afterwards. Not that I intend to quit or anything haha. I'm way too addicted for that xD.

Hey :). Yeah its a bit embarressing how much I watched and rewatched anime. I had no life or job for around 3 years, so I literally wasted 3 years watching anime and playing games and became a shut in. Ended up having to get a job 2 years ago so I wouldn't starve to death lol. I love anime and manga though :p and still keep my anime list up to date even if im just rewatching. I have a job and more of a life but I'll probably always be what you would call an otaku :P. Been reading more manga and light novels latley, it's much more enjoyable having money to actually purchase the physical copys xD.
