used to watch loads of anime, then i switched to reading manga and manwha favoring shoujo related stories

i am kind of an old timer on the board staying for a while, being absent for a while, somehow i always find my way back here and its nice to see the old crowd still around

i first got hooked up with "real anime" many years ago when the first 4 episodes of lodoss wars were released in a small movie theater in my hometown. i say "real anime" because to me series like dragonballz, sailor moon, heidi, pinocchio and countless other old shows that i watched as a kid on tv somehow aren't the same to me. maybe thats because i only saw them dubbed in german i don't know. they just never got me hooked as did those subbed lodoss wars episodes in that theater.

a short time after seeing those episodes i saw the ghost in the shell movie at a friends house. bammmm that was so awesome! i bought the english dub on vhs for a horrendous amount of money afterwards. the dubbed voice of the puppet master still makes me drool. ^^

at some point a friend led me to dc raving about the cowboy bebop show. i got me a few episodes, watched them and discarded the series since i didn't like it at all. but that was the start-off for other shows to watch.. noir, fushigi yuugi, angelic layer, slayers, hack sign, and many more. i finally found the lodoss wars series and watched the whole show! the rest is history.

eventually i quit watching anime, since i didnt find the time for it anymore. instead i turned to mangas and have since read many stories mostly of the romantic genres.

Yeah, Wann has an unique way of drawing the characters and I think that 100% Perfect Girl is the best work he/she ever made.

Nana ia alot more thought-provoking than 100% Perfect Girl. Unlike 100% Nana exposes the cruelty of life and society and not just some mere coincidences, in other words it went a bit on the slice of life genre.

If you like punk/rock music you might like this one also. You will hear alot of nice soundtracks since the show revolves around two bands as well, Black Stones and Trapnest (Anna Tsuchiya and Olivia Lufkin).

In this case, i can't say if the manga or the anime are better. The manga continues far from where the anime left however the anime followed the manga perfectly. However the anime offers somekind of closure, the manga has stopped at a crucial point.

Well, I'm glad that i was helpful in a way. Josei mostly focuses on romantic dramas, except one show, Nodame Cantabile, the rest are all drama queens/kings.

If I had to recommend a josei show to you, Nana would be the perfect choice. I watched this one 4 years ago, but since then I did not see another romance anime that could be compared to this one. The bad thing is that it is not finished, nor the anime, nor the manga. The author placed it on hiatus for like 2 years (this month actually, 2 years passed since the last chapter was released) due to an illness and there are no signs if she wishes to continue it nor to drop it. It's a real loss since the manga was very thought-provoking and in my opinion, far from being over. If I had to define this manga from a literal point of view, it is a sort of journal. Basicaly two main protagonists, pour out their memories while being together, the time before they met and their relationships with other characters. You will find it quite interesting.

A Canadian Fan Girl got me interested enough to pick up the Manga, and that led to the Anime and late Saturday nights to catch the 'new' episodes on Cartoon Network/Adult Swim.

Overall Bleach isn't that bad, though lately they have been dragging out fights over many episodes....

Well honestly, many girls watch shounen stuff too, I know that since my girlfriend watches stuff like Naruto, Bleach, FMA or Beelzebub. I, on the other hand, like more of the girly stuff, romance is my favorite genre, and i like josei stuff the most because the characters and the events are portrayed in a realistic manner and not in a ridiculous manner like the shoujo stuff tend to depict. Alas, I don't neglect shoujo stuff either, stuff like Itazura na Kiss, Kaichou wa Maid-sama, Clannad, Karin, Earl and Fairy, Glass Mask, Kaleido Star, Saiunkoku Monogatari, Skip Beat! or Vampire Knight are within my favorites, shows that i would love to watch once again.

Ow and yet another contradiction, guys prefer stuff that have a lot of action, however i am more on the slow-paced, slice of life genres. I do no neglect any of them but i enjoyed the shows that had these genres the most.

Don't know about DC or DC++. I haven't used either since arriving in Florida.

I've either 'used other means' or have pretty much gone with recommendations.

As a result...I have got quite a bit of bleach around the apt.
