I'm sorry for the late reply! Honestly, I haven't had a lot of free time lately. I hope the burn on your finger is gone by now.
I think everyone prefers the music they listened to when they were young. In my case, that's essentially punk rock, indie rock, alternative rock and classic rock music. Growning up, I never took any real interest in other music genres. I guess, every now and then, I do listen to drum and bass, jazz and experimental music.
But bands that were formed in the 70's and 80's are considered "retro" now. Especially in England this is the case. However, I haven't met anyone of my age yet who listens to The Smiths, The Clash or The Doors, but plenty of 20-25 year olds who do.
Your friends' dads are cooler than them. ^^
Björk has a few really nice songs; my mp3 player's song list isn't complete without her music. I'm even fond of her infamous swan dress.
You don't sound selfish or egotistical, I don't either like seeing things I love get mainstream attention. The reasons why are hard for me to explain in words, but at least I understand what you mean.
I'm awfully shy, without question, but I don't know if I'm begging to become extrovertive. I do, occasionally, crave to give out thoughts and feelings, but I don't want to seem self-conceited, so I tend to suck up my emotions.
I haven't read The Count of Monte Cristo but I have seen one of the movies, I don't remember which one as there are too many. Nevertheless, I loved the movie but I'm certain the book is superior to any of the movie adaptations.
As for the chocolates, imagine they were calorie free. ^^
P.S. I wouldn't mind staying in contact with you through e-mail, if it helps.
if you'd like to hear something of my orchestra, try http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWAhpL0eMn4&feature=related (it's made by one of my fellow orchestra members, he's aspiring to be a composer :-D). If you'd prefer something more easy to listen to, you could also try http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q85CUBzlnrM&feature=related . short choir pieces are usually the kind of thing we do after playing all those heavy classical pieces and after the applause, like a kind of 'extra'. (no idea how it's called in english, haha). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hJv6FXQfbU&feature=related here in 1.47 you see two people in the back diving down to change clarinets FAST, well the right one that's me xD.
Hope you'll like it! (and it's never too late to learn how to play an instrument :P!)
It's been an eternity since I last visited this site and even right now I don't really have a lot of time to respond to your last message. I apoligize in advance for the bad sentence structure and typing mistakes.
Oh wow, someone who listens to The Smiths. Nobody of my age listens to good music. ;-;
Back on track. Yoko did a really good job with Cowboy Bebop and, I might be alone on this, I also like her work for The Vision of Escaflowne. With GitS however she seemed to have little creativity and she even had to steal from Björk and Hooverphonic, and possibly others. If she had good or at least better inspirationsources, stealing wouldn't have been necessary.
I remember the first time I heard of the Cowbody Bebop live action movie being in development it gave me chills. Luckily Shinichiro Watanabe, the series writer Keiko Nobumoto and the original studio Sunrise will be involved in the production of the movie. I've also read that the film project will be cancelled if the script writing doesn't live up to Shinichiro Watanabe's expectations. Currently everything's being rewritten.
Keanu actually shows a lot of interest for the series. I hope he can portray a very laid back and sarcastic Spike, I will become his loyal fangirl if he succeeds. I'll be satisfied if the rest of the crew gets portrayed by a good and correct cast. I hope they get the right people for Edward, Faye and Vicious.
I'm very shy of nature, I try to hide it when in a conversation with someone, but I feel terrified of saying something wrong.
(Skip this bit of text if you don't want me to bore you with my personal life.) I think it's due to the fact that people tend to avoid me because of my appearance, not meaning to say I'm ugly but the other way around. I've had only little social contact with people ever since I was young. I began to hang out with adolescents early on and never had friends of my age. I missed out on everything girls of my age discussed and became an outsider. I've never been bullied but instead those of my age group have always been avoiding me. But that's that.
Europe is a nice place and probably the best place to live on Earth. I just hate Europe's unstable climate behaviour and the rapid changes from cold, wet weather to killing, hot weather and back.
I hope you enjoy Nodame Cantabile thus far. I still haven't found the time to do the About Me section so that'll be something to do during my summer vacation.
*sends chocolate over from Belgium*
man this is different! that was back in 98! we had to do it. he was gonna rat us out. no one missed him. except that one guy who missed him, but that was the only person who did.
I was very close to making a phone call. but he doesn't seem to know anything..but he is a crafty one Indeed (see what I did there?)
P.S. I like your about me section
You've got a pretty interesting profile ^_^. Somewhat random, but I like that. As you said you'd like your adopted (or whatever) kids to learn music.. do you play an instrument as well? I see you're watching Nodame Cantabile. It's totally awesome :D especially the Rachmaninov and Ravel piano concertos (although the last was in Finale, if I remember it correctly) it took some time before I started to like its style.
Looks like we both have a pretty fun medical history xD. You're beating mine by far, though.
Anyway, I really like the idea of writing letters to anime characters in a blog, so I might just use that idea for my own blog. I'm not that creative coming up with new ideas on my own, but once I've got a premise I can easily get the ball rolling (or at least that's how we say it in holland, i have no clue if it's a valid expression in english, lol).
