- High Fidelity - Nick Hornby (yay to top 5 lists, huh? :P)
- Neverending Story - Michael Ende (damn movies! everytime I imagine the dragon, I see him with a dog face)
- Lord of the Rings trilogy - J.R.R. Tolkien (the way we have imagined fantasy worlds until now wouldn't be the same without Tolkien)
- Stardust - Neil Gaiman (the way we are re-imaginating fantasy worlds today wouldn't be posible without Gaiman)
- The Vampire Lestat - Anne Rice (for those who were teenagers in the 80s or 90s, this was our Harry Potter)
..Movies
- Matrix (forget about the sequels)
- High Fidelity (made me aware of Nick Hornby, today one of my favourite authors)
- Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain (a true fairy tale, without fairies)
- L'Auberge Espagnole (along with High Fidelity and Sideways, the movie I watch to dream and understand myself)
- Dead Poets Society (actually anything with Robin Williams, really)
..."Table" RPGs
- Mage: The Ascension (the more I study and the more I learn, the more I understand this is the cleverest RPG game I know)
- GURPS (for being anything you want it to be)
- Castle Falkenstein (steampunk, mad scientists, swashbuckling, high fantasy and victorian literature)
- Deadlands (gunslingers, mad scientists, hucksters and shootouts at high noon)
- Changeling: The Dreaming (just startlingly beautiful)

Hi there - sorry for not getting back to you sooner (believe me - I have a lot of appologies to hand around - I have been extremely busy with work these last couple of months). The few times I have been around I have always stayed in the chat - which in a way is my "home". Hmm - I really ought to be a more faithful user of the forums as well - oh well.
Regarding the Merlin trilogy books - no, I havent read them, but I have heard about them. They sound pretty interesting - almost a kind of mix between some early Ursula Leguin and ... ummm ... the author that wrote the Golden Witchbreed books (forgot the name).
You mentioned also Stardust - are you referring to the novel by Neil Gaiman that the movie is based on on? Or were you thinking of something else? (and yes, I have still to watch Stardust - not that it says very much, I havent watched 300 yet either for that matter *sigh*)
