I had marked this show as "not interested" on Netflix years ago. I had absolutely no intention of wasting a minute of my time on it. Generally speaking, I hate harem shows, and the kind of humor that they're loaded with. And the cookie-cutter personality types they're almost always full of. It is, without a doubt, one of my least favorite genres.
Now by chance, one of my brothers gave me a complete box-set of this. One of his friends was getting rid of some anime stuff--don't know the details--and he gave it to my brother. My brother took a couple things he liked, and gave me the rest, which, among other things, included this box-set.
That was nearly a year ago, I just couldn't decide if I should check it out just because I had it, or avoid it since I was certain I wouldn't like it. So, I finally decided to watch some.
Wow... it's exactly what I expected. The poor attempts at humor, the annoying-as-sin cookie-cutter personalities, the ridiculously contrived scenarios they get into, even the terrible animation style I hate. It was a perfect example of everything I hate about the harem genre. I got through four episodes before I just couldn't bring myself to watch any more.
Now, I know some people love this genre and think it's hilarious. That's fine, to each his/her own, whatever entertains you--that's what anime is about: being entertained. Everyone has a different idea of what's "good," and I'm sure I watch, and enjoy, plenty of stuff that lots of other people think is worthless garbage. It's all just personal opinion. But good lord do I hate this stuff. It makes me want to bang my head against a wall.
