Wat can I say about this anime other than it compared well with my other dissappointment so far this season (Aldnoah.Zero).

The Story

Throughout the anime I constantly felt like something was going to happen, that moment that would push the anime from something with promise, to something worth watching.  But nothing ever happened.  You had these frequent backflashes into the protagonist's early life were I assume his family was killed?  But its never explored, you have frequent plot holes, and the story never goes anywhere.

The Animation

This is the redeaming factor of the anime.  It's colour scheme and animation is beautiful.  At least one of it's departments had talented individuals working on the project.  The animation was fluid and the colour's bright and beautiful, yet subtle and toned where appropriate.

The Sound

The music wasn't bad, it felt nice, but it seemed unrelated to the anime somehow.  It felt like one of those songs they play at parties or 'sokkies'.  It set the mood well, but often the songs were about topics completely inappropriate.

The Characters

Characters and Story are the 2 things that I believe are the major parts of the anime.  if something looks good, its a picture, if it has good characters and a well rounded, compelling story, it's an anime.

The characters all fell into the typical archetypes.  The protagonist was an idiot who couldn't see the more than blatantly obvious affections of the over-endowed lady with the self-worth complex, this individual's companion constantly drew wild conclusions at every opportunity, and then you had this lady who is determined to marry him, yet knows next to nothing about the protagonist.

Conclusion

This was an anime with some promise, yet nothing fell into place to get it anywhere.  The story was all but non-existent, and the Characters were flat and typical.  There was no decent motivation for any of the actions, whether minor or major in the entire anime, and the story ended in a typical manner for a half-series.  It was simply just a chore to watch and that's why I gave this anime only 5/10
