Hello, I am Shirono, Painter and Animator from Maine, United States. You may have seen me as a guest artist at Portcon Maine, 2006 and 2008. My work is heavily influenced by comics and anime, and I run a blog about anime in the fine arts here:
http://animepaintstudio.blogspot.com
I grew up on Shoujo anime, the three that effected me the most were Sailor Moon, Revolutionary Girl Utena, and Card Captor Sakura. My favorite series often have two young female protagonists in a close relationship (not sexual), much like Tomoyo and Sakura from Card Captor Sakura, my most recent new favorite was Alice Academy. Unrelated, I absolutely adored the anime adaptation of Gokusen and Hikaru no Go.
Currently watching: Hikaru no Go.
While its apparent that I'm a yuri fan (not GL or hentai, but the best-friend type yuri) I could never get into the girl-academy type shows (Maria-Sama, Strawberry panic, etc,) because they were just too blah blah blah big sister blah blah.
I'm always looking to watch new yuri titles that have a great plot (Alice Academy was a real winner!) and of course, any new anime with a great plot, regardless of genre. Its the human interactions that I'm interested in. I hate classic harem, and overdone magical girl stuff (despite my roots, huh?)
Send me a message anytime!

Thank you. And I'm liking the fact you're a CCS fan as well! I've been trying to get hold of Utena, but never been able to. I'm told that fans of Rose of Versailles (like me) will like it, and juding by your superb taste in anime, I better hurry up in getting hold of it.
Your recs are outstanding. Keep up the good work! ^_^
Konnichiwa!
Haha. I remember you. Yeah, I'm still trying to get hold of Utena. You know of anywhere in particular that does the DVDs at a reasonable price? Sound slike something I really should own.
Oh, and welcome back!
