Where to begin? I am a bit eccentric, and have no idea what I will or won't write here, or how long this bio will end up being until the words have been typed.
I have been obsessed with videogames since I was 2, movies since 5, tv since about 8, anime since 10, and manga since 16, Not a hobby not an interest a full on obsession. Now as my attention span isn't the greatest in the world, I tend to jump around from one obsession to the next but Videogames, Anime, and Manga are always present in my life.
DBZ was my gateway anime drug, along with the likes of Gundam Wing, Yu Yu Hakusho, Tenchi Muyo, and a little Sailor Moon, back in the Toonami days, when I didn't believe the Frieza character was a guy until I looked up proof, on the internet (because as we all know the internet never lies...well at least it wasn't this time.)
I also jump back and forth between being a loner and a social butterfly on a whim. Which may explain why when I have been a part of this site for over three years I am just now writing a bio. There have been a few forums, and sites I have been a "temporary" regular (whatever that means) but I rarely interact much I love to talk to people and have discussions and debates. Note I said people not trolls, not elitists, not people who can't have a discussion without telling everyone else they are wrong.
There is one thing about my fellow Otaku that admittedly kind of ticks me off. Why do we have this mentality (not all of us but quite a few of us) that if we like an anime when it is obscure, and it becomes "mainstream" we suddenly have to hate it?
This is stupid period. Anime isn't the rule or the exception here quite a few people think about this about many "hobbies, trends, interests" in life, and I have never been able to figure it out nor do I care too. I definitely prefer the Japanese voices to the dubs, and I rarely ever will watch any dubs, but I don't think less of those that do. Thats one "anime peeve" I have. Now don't get me wrong if an Anime goes mainstream and the creator of the anime sells out that is entirely different, it does happen but it is the exception not the rule.
Rather then get pissed off over everyone enjoying anime the "wrong" way (whatever that is supposed to mean) why not enjoy just how much the culture has exploded in the last 10 years or so? When I was younger maybe 1 out of every 100 people I talked to knew what the word Anime was or even what it vaguely meant. Now? Its well over 50 out of 100, they may not all like Anime they may not all like it as much but they are aware of its existence, The more people are aware of it the more of it we will get, the more people are aware the more the studios make, and thus can make, adapt, maybe every once in awhile a videogame will come along that is actually half decent.
I won't be listing favorite Genres or Least Favorite Genres as I don't have one. The above listed obsessions though I enjoy them have kind of stopped me from pursuing careers in the fields myself I want to work in the videogame, movie, and tv industry, but I can never stop playing videogames and watching anime long enough to put so much as a complete written document to pitch to a company. As much as I love anime I would never kid myself into thinking that I could work as an actual animator as I have trouble drawing a simple circle. I have rambled on long enough I just figured if I was going to actually start contributing to the site I have frequently (lurked) for the last 3 years I may as well have something here.
