Clannad

Aug 17, 2013

The problem with reviewing a show like Clannad is having to divorce yourself from the outcome you wanted to have happen and look only at the show as it was presented.  When it comes to the audience having strong opinions as to how things should have concluded, from my experience this show routinely ends up firmly in the debate with different camps fervently supporting their particular "Clannad" girl and why she should have been the one to "win".  Now despite the fact that this show is widely discussed and clips of all types are available on video sharing sites I will still do... Sword Art Online

Dec 9, 2013

I was really hesitant to watch Sword Art Online at first, to be honest the rather polarized nature of the pro and con viewer bases tends to make the show more of a minefield to traverse than a sit back relax and enjoy experience.  Initially I was one who watched the first episode and dropped the show in favor of another show I had in queue for viewing, I made the mistake of not giving a show enough time to full lay out the story it wants to tell before rushing to judgment, and in some ways I am glad that I reversed that decision and gave SAO a chance.  Now those platitudes aside, is the... RIN: Daughters of Mnemosyne

Aug 24, 2013

I got Rin: Daughters of Mnemosyne (Nem-Oh-Sign in case anyone was wondering on the pronunciation of the Greek titaness of memory's name) on a whim while picking up other titles based on the art style and summary.  Unlike other series I have watched it is not a 12 episode story arc series but 6 45ish minute long episodes revolving around the main character, nudity, sex scenes and bondage with some action sequences thrown in.  Needless to say sound the spoiler alarms and avert your eyes if you want to see this show with a unhindered outlook.  By the way this series does demonstrate the... Kuttsukiboshi

Jul 27, 2013

I actually stumbled onto Kuttsukiboshi (aka Stars That Stick Together) via snippets on a popular video sharing site long before my eyes were opened to the awesomeness that is anime-planet.com.  To be honest while it is not good, I find myself willing to give it a pass in some respects due to it being a single person project, I give its creator props for taking an idea and seeing it through to a tangeable product.  Anyway, on to the review and be well forewarned this will be rife with spoilers, so if you do not want to know the story then you should watch the show first if possible as it is... School Days

Jul 21, 2013

I will admit I watched School Days out of morbid curiosity, I did want to see exactly why it was that the majority of anime viewers regarded this project as a unmitigated disaster.  School Days is claimed by some to be a parody of the harem romance genre of anime but speaking from my limited point of view I saw it more as an unintentional jab at Western style soap operas and teen targeted dramas than a parody of harem anime.  That being said I go over a few things while trying to avoid spoilers, though by now thanks to video sharing and word of mouth the "surprise" ending has...
