after saki, this almost felt like dragonball z:karuta edition, or maybe some derivative of the `tezuka zone`- enter visions of dinosaurs, mass extinctions and meteoric tennis balls. but that is a disservice. wonderful art, pleasant storytelling, excellent tool for increasing awareness of the `sport`. colorful characters, different angles. follows typical shonen sports anime formula - finding strenght, overcoming weakness and adversity - reaching for the stars. but wait, a subtle love triangle is in there somewhere. worthwhile anime, commanding a second season.
commendable that japanese can make something so obscure and so `niche` interesting. i imagine it does what k-on did for guitars or what hikaru no go did for... well go. direct an audience`s interest.
