Shakugan no Shana

Aug 5, 2011

I am usually generous when it comes to evaluations of anime I actually liked, but it is an extremely rare event for me to assign a 10 to something, could it be story, animation, overall, or whatever. But here... Here it deserves it all. But let's get into the specific. Story - 10
Sakai Yuuiji, a guy whose only thoughts are directed to the new life awaiting him at the recently started high school.
A nameless tiny girl with red hairs and blazing eyes, with a mission that consist in defeating all the Tomogara that came on Earth from Guze (or Crimson Realm) with the intent of eating the power of the... See full review

Maid-sama!

Jan 5, 2011

Well, I really enjoyed this one Story: 8.5/10
At first, when I've seen the title I said "Oh... This should be once again an ecchi anime with busty girls and pheromoned guys"
Lucky me, I was wrong. Well, mostly wrong. While the story is about a maid, there is absolutely no fanservice. And the best thing of it is that while watching this anime, you do not regret it at all. The story may be somehow simple, but it is handled really well. As a viewer, there is no feeling of something missing, just like there is not too much. It's a hard-to-find balance, and here it is achieved.
There is... See full review

Sailor Moon

Oct 2, 2011

Well well well. Who has never seen at least some episodes of this anime, hands up. If that's your case, then you are probably no older than 10-12 years, as whoever had his/her childhood/adolescence back between 1992 and around 2000 *must* have seen at least some episodes of this anime at least once. Yes, even the manly 25 year old guy with 80 kg muscles for whom one wouldn't even think that he ever even had a childhood. By choice or not, everyone knows this one, just like everyone sees the stars in the sky, even while he/she actually has no clues on what they are made of, what's their name... See full review

Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day

Aug 31, 2011

I though I had seen one of the best sentimental anime when I watched Toradora. Well, I'm not sure anymore... The two of them (Toradora and Anohana) are really good, although there are some core differences between them. Actually there is not much to say, but right now I feel like writing something, even if just a few words, so let's get started. Still, unlike my usual, this won't be a full review, but just some considerations on the anime :) The whole story spins around the love problems of 6 young guys (and girls, of course). Or should I say 5 guys and a ghost? Back in the childhood a dramatic accident... See full review

Kashimashi: Girl Meets Girl

Jan 8, 2011

Mmhh this is a hard review. After watching this anime I just feel indifferent. Well, let's give it a point in the fact that every now and then there was a couple of events that actually had some pathos in them, and asked for a few tears. But really few. And that's all. Story: 5/10
It may seem something original, but without going too much into spoilers, it's just a love triangle, nothing more. Only one difference in the central character if compared to the standard shy, insecure one... But those differences have an effect on the story that's nearly zero. Defined as shoujo-ai, I feel like there's a lot... See full review

In Search of the Lost Future

Jun 17, 2016

Story Anyone of you knows about the Butterfly Effect?
This anime is it. And it tells us not about the hurrycane, buth rather of the butterfly.
With the difference that in this Butterfly Effect, the enemy is the destiny that says "no butterfly can change my design". You'll see. The real kick of the story is shown in just a couple episodes. I would generally claim that this is bad, and boring, and useless. This is not the case, however. All the other episodes show, at times, some things that help you remember the details, those ones that make you remember that it's not just as it... See full review

Terra Formars

Dec 6, 2015

I initially picked this anime out of a simple random choice restrictod to Sci Fi stuff, and well, it gave me some nice grounds for a story I might appreciate. Still, I haven't been exactly eager to complete all 13 episodes. It's not a bad anime. It's just not a good one neither. To be fair, I must point out one thing. I'm referring to the anime only, as the manga is far more developed, from what I read around the web. The story review might contain minor spoilers. Won't riun your surprise, but if you want to remain spoiler-free, you've been warned. That said, on with the juice! Story ... See full review

Mayo Chiki!

Apr 28, 2012

Maria Holic Mayo Chiki is a romance anime featuring a small but interesting cast. Secrets to be kept and revelated, odd situations to resolve and ambiguous situation to explain reign over this serie. But a quite linear path that leads to a quite obvious end keeps all those twists in the line. Story - 7/10
Sakamachi Kinjirou is a simple high school student whose life rolls very normally. Well, that is... If you do not consider the mother being a pro wrestler and Konoha, the sister, iuing him for hers wrestling training... But this is just a side factor, as the real story starts when Jirou's bad luck... See full review

Strike Witches

Apr 24, 2012

Here's an interesting one. While being a completely different thing, while thinking to SW, I can't stop to think to Evangelion, and even more Aquarion as well. Can't ereally say why. It's just like this. Story - 7/10
A peaceful girl with some magic powers living in a peaceful town gets suddendly recruited into the Strike Witches and in no time finds herself at the front line, in a small elite magical team, fighting an alien enemy of which she barely knows the name and that is wiping away any armed force on its path. A Bridge to the Starry Skies

Apr 23, 2012

I can't say it's an exceptional anime, or at least not if compared to other romance anime that can be found out there.
It does, however, hold some good points which make it in fact appreciable. Story - 6/10
For a quick and spoil-free plot, the story begins with Kazuma and his little brother, Ayumu, who transfer in this new town and soon a group of the most disparate girls takes form around them.
On the story side it's just a harem story, nothing more, nothing less. The main character, Kazuma, and several girls play this show on everyday events, while something grows between them. NO it's not... See full review

Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei

Jan 5, 2012

Story - 2/10
I'm not even sure if there is a story actually...
It's mostly a bunch of small events regarding a particular class and its teacher.
The whole anime aims more at funny sketches one after anoter, while there is absolutely no story connecting the various episodes... Yes there is the deep theme of pessimism, suicide, and everything else, and every now and then it seems it is seriously handled with some good discussions, but with a slightly larger point of view, it looks more as an excuse to just patch toghether this anime...
And those sketches might actually be fun in the beginning... See full review

Momo: The Girl God of Death

Sep 4, 2011

Oohh when I first saw the title I was expecting something like Soul Eater, something both cheerful and gloomy all mixed up for a weird yet pleasant result. I couldn't be more wrong. This whole anime will provide quite a good source of delicate sadness, with a glimpse of relief every now and then. Story - 6

The World God Only Knows II

Sep 3, 2011

Well well well... This was really a surprise. After the delusion of the first season (horrible story and characters, average sound and animation, you can find my review here) I wasn't expecting anything better. In fact I watched this sequel just because I usually do not like to leave things only half complete. But it seems that, with this second season, Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai has been able to pack up something better. Animation and sound showed no real changes from the season 1, I'll avoid a copy/paste to smooth up a little the review... See full review

Ah! My Goddess TV

Aug 4, 2011

Story - 9/10
Original? Not for today's standards. But remember that this franchise is more than 20 years old, with the original anime OVAs dated back in the 1993 and the manga in the 1988. So the lack of originality in the ground story is not really a factor that I would judge on. Moreover, while the main path develops on a pattern that has been used several times, I feel like if there is something in this franchise that I haven't found nowhere else... Still I can't really name it... I just feel it. But let's get back to the objective review.
A simple and unlucky guy (Keiichi Morisato) suddenly... See full review

Oreimo

Jul 31, 2011

Story: 8
Kyousuke discovers an unusual hobby followed by his sister, Kirino, and get somehow involved in the world of anime, manga, simdating, eroge, and so on. While these new virtual experiences flow in the life of a seemingly unwilling Kyousuke, much more real characters start to play their part in the show. Show that most of the time concentrates on the behaviors of Kyousuke and Kirino with respect to each other.
Quite a straight plot, narrating the relationship between bother and sister, mixed to the influence to and from nearby friends of the two. However, each one of the 12 episodes has in... See full review

Ah! My Goddess

Jul 29, 2011

First animated transposition of the manga, I've first seen these OVA only recently, long after I've seen the more recent anime series. This might somehow influence my judgement (toward a more positive value, probably), but I'll try to stick to what I actually think of these 5 OVAs as a standalone thing. I know I won't be able to fully satisfy this assumption, but well... Here we go! Story: 6.5

Fate/stay night: TV reproduction

Jan 21, 2011

If you have seen the original FSN, this is a nice revival, nothing special, by since you know the background story, it's a good patchwork of the best scenes of the anime.
SPOILER WARNING
But for some reason the scene where Shirou and Saber "consolidate" their relation has been cut out... Shame...
END SPOILER
And for those who have never seen the original one: while I have seen the original FSN, this review is made by taking this as a stand-alone anime, earning only what it's worth just by itself. Story: 3/10

Fate/stay night

Jan 19, 2011

Normally I just watch each anime once. Just a few twice, I could count them on the fingers of my two hands. This one... This one I've seen it three times, and still I watch it with the same enthusiasm of the first time. There are no useless things, but this does not mean that particulars are neglected. It's 24 episodes of suspense, maybe sometimes slows down a bit to let you take a breath, but not really that much. Story: 10/10
7 mages that summon 7 servants, heroes born from the legends of different civilities, in order to compete in a battle royale to obtain in the end an awesome reward. Each master... See full review

Bamboo Blade

Jan 9, 2011

Nice one, 26 episodes, and -rare thing- not one felt like a filler. Story: 7/10
It's hard to actually evaluate story in sport anime. Well "normal sports" at least, as most of it will involve winning matches and competitions. But outside the simple "fight and get better" this one has a few good addiction. Instead of everlasting matches, the encounters are actually quite short, leaving lot of free time to develop the story and the characters personality. And the story is able to catch your attention without releasing it that soon.
A nearly closed club of kendo arises from it's... See full review

The World God Only Knows

Dec 31, 2010

The initial plot was promising, not exceptional, but promising. But the more the show goes on, the more it gets boring. Story: 2/10
Sorry.
Start: a young boy with as only interest the sim girls. He plays at home, at school, while eating, everywhere, at anytime. Until the day when he gets stuck with a demon girl and a contract that requires him to seduce real girls. So far it looks interesting, as it seems like a male character seducing multiple girls that barely know of his existence. Something different from other harem anime.
But while the first 3-4 episodes are quite cool, in the... See full review
