Ergo Proxy

Apr 9, 2010

Ergo Proxy! How dare a show demand my admiration, and then as soon as you fit your oily fingers around it's throat, you turn into such a let down! I have never seen a series start off so strongly, to have such a week progression.StoryErgo proxy can be summed up in 3 moves. 1. A brilliant pilot, followed by still interesting, but dull copies. 2. Characters pondering different aspects of life, speaking to themselves, and extended periods of nothing but filler. and 3. A weak ending, that doesn't really explain much at all. Boo Ergo Proxy, Boo!AnimationUnfortunately, such a bland... See full review

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

Apr 9, 2010

Gurren Lagann is quite a different experience for a fan such as myself. When I started the series, I had 2 things in mind; "If the plot sucks, at least the redhead is attractive" and "Well... maybe it's cheesy for comedies sake!". I was right on both ends I suppose. Up until episode 17, Gurenn Lagann is a pretty funny neurotic comedy, full of cheesy one liners "When you screw it in, give it a hard manly twist!" and awkward sexual innuendos. After episode 17, the series takes a sort of turn towards a more serious side, and I quickly started to lose faith... See full review

Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture

Apr 8, 2010

Ahh geez... where to start? Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture was THE ANIME to get me hooked. I remember my father video taping a show he wanted to watch on Sci-Fi channel, and fell asleep, and it picked up a "anime marathon" they had, starting with this. The last 15 minutes were cut off, but I watched that movie 5 times before finding the means of finishing it haha. That being said, by today's standards, it's pretty lame, but at the time, it blew me away. So take into consideration most of my ratings for it are from what it was at the time. Yeah, they were good graphics back then, possibly an 8, but... See full review

Last Exile

Apr 6, 2010

StoryLast Exile is one of those stories where you feel so good about it, that you want to pace yourself. I wanted to sit down and breeze through every episode in a day, but forced myself to stick to only 2 or 3, so that I could enjoy myself. Set in a pseudo-steampunk world on the brink of war, and later global disaster, our story focuses on 2 "vanship" pilots named Claus and Lavie. Throughout the storyline, there is a constant subtle feeling of something great looming on the horizon, and it keeps you on the edge of your seat up until a little over half way. It really is a shame that such a... See full review
