While L/R may not be the best written or most action packed Anime out there, I found it to still be one of the most fun.
The series is a mix of Live and Let Die and the original Casino Royal. With the fictitious Ishtar as the setting, Jack Hofner and Rowe Rickenbacker (Lovingly named after the instruments played by the Beatles) must protect the young Noelle, find out who has been terrorizing the city and complete the tasks sent forth by the Royal Family, all within 13 episodes.
Resembling the style of 80's animation, such as Lupin and Saint Seiya, L/R isn't very flashy or overly animated, they kept things simple and focused more on story telling and character building (though it never last long enough to get the full story behind any character as we would want)
With one of the best music soundtracks in Anime, opening song by the late Billy Preston and Japanese songs which tend to resemble songs of Cream and the Beatles, each episode has a lively feel and great musical presence and direction.
My only gripes are that the show ended way to quickly, you finally get a good feel for the characters and the show ends, and the last few episodes manage to get both confusing and predictable at the same time. L/R really could have used a OVA or Manga to tie up the loose ends.
