Hello! and welcome to my profile!

I am Raux, for about a year before joining, I had stumbled across this website while trying to find some recommendations of good Anime to see. I found this site to be the most informative I could find, and shortly after joining i began to write my own reviews. Although i do not pop them out like rabbits, every review that i write is given hours of consideration and many rough drafts. I am not fast at these. I don't quite enjoy writing reviews about Anime's that i do not like. Yet even though i don't like it, I realize it's benefit, it shows you what you like and what you do not like. I give this website credit for giving me a way to increase my writing skills, and for developing my judgement in art. The friends I have made here I hope to have for a long while.

I love stories, Anime has some great ones. I was prejudice against Anime for a while because, like the cursed twilight saga, it obtains some wierd followers that make your skin itch just being around them. As I've grown, I've realized, there are people who I make itchy, and it's a poor reason to judge. There is beauty, as well as deformation in this artform. But in the end it comes down to this. I loves me a good story!

Here is my rating system, for those of you that are interested. first and foremost. My review rating system and my star rating system are totally different.

With my reviews, I am logically analysing everything I see, the progression of story, the feel of the score, the appeal of the animation. Although I will express my personal feelings of it, I try not to let personal preference completely hinder my judgement.

Review ratings:

10 - Hasn't happened, just like perfection, it is a goal that i always shoot for, but will fall short of. It's a method of motivation

9.5 - Best of Best I've ever seen. if someone argues with me about a 9.5 in person, I will very likely start raising voice as if defending a family member. These are stories I feel have changed me and affected me for the better, down to my core.

9 - Amazing, if it were a person, I'd have it raise my own child in my stead if I were dead.

8 - a great watch, a few problems, but overall it affected me very emotionally and was a very well-built artistic machine

7 - Give it a watch, it'll be awesome

6 - You bored? this will entertain you

5 - Good stuff, but only needed in small doses

4 - not really good

3- pretty bad

2 - Terrible

1 - .......why did anybody spend money on this? people really thought this was good enough to make?

0 -  Just ignore it, like that annoying guy in class who seriously ate paper during class to see if anyone would talk to him about it.

As for my star rating, the method is quite simple.

5 stars - I freaked out hard core while watching it

4 stars - I freaked out a lot

3 stars - pretty good, definitely needed to eat something while I was watching it.

2 stars - not going to lie, I could have fallen asleep while watching this

1 stars - haha, I definetely fell asleep, my dreams were more entertaining

0 stars - hated it. hate hate hate

Favorite Anime - ok, I have something called my pedestal, only three are allowed on the top at one time. and they all share first place.

Note: the positions are going to change as more Animes are viewed, and as my preferences and tastes develop.

Hey Raux, sorry for the very late reply: you left me comments right when I had to leave town for a wedding and then the country for business and I forgot to get back to you. Hope your writing progression is going well - reviewing (and moreso writing in general) is an art that you'll continually find yourself improving with and working on.

When it comes to analysis for reviews, I tend to be pretty detached from my subject matter (much moreso in recent years, as you'll see a fair amount more personality and emotion in my early reviews on the site). While it's not really a matter of being objective, I don't develop any fan attachment or hatred toward anything I watch; to me I'm watching someone else tell a story, and all I evaulate is how well I thought the story was told. When I reviewed, my mentality was fairly simple: skim the genre/general premise of several shows, pick one (or two or none) that sounded interesting, watch them, review them, and then never really touch or think about them again. I've never been a social anime viewer, and the only time I'd ever discuss anime with someone else was generally after I'd watched a show and written a draft of a review (if I planend to review it). This made it pretty easy to separate the good and the bad within each show.

As for Facebook, I don't really use it. I have one but it just sits there, and I remove people from it more often than I add them these days. You're welcome to leave me comments on here and I generally respond within a few days - you just happened to catch me the first day of the busiest month of the year which is why I forgot this time.

Take care.

It's hard to really make recommendations for you to be honest. There are some shows you've seen that given the high ratings of others you've seen you should have enjoyed. But here's some I'm fairly sure you'll like or at the very least appreciate given the high rankings of other similar shows.

Fate/Zero I, II, and Fate/Stay Night (watch this, particularly Zero right now, I am being very bias right now but if you don't watch this right now I will be sad) ,Kanon (2006) Finish this, Evangelion, Code Geass, Princess Tutu, Paprika, Black Lagoon, Mononoke, Read or Die TV, RahXephon

Yeah i liked Okami-san and her 7 companions a lot... the only problem is that its a short series... and in my experience, short series dont have enough episodes to have the story come to full fruition (exception Elfen Lied). That being said, its a fun watch and i finished it in a day, meant to rate it as 4 stars tho

Steins Gate is one that i've always wanted to watch, but never got around to it, but having someone speak so highly of it will motivate me to get it started sooner than later.

I am also a fan of romantic series lol, Toradora! has been one that i've been on the fence w/ cuz i'm not a huge fan of the "Tsundere" thing... the "I like you but i will never let u know about it shit", however, i did enjoy Okami-san and her seven companions, and this sounds similar, so i'll try that out 2

I've never heard of Gosick, but after u told me about it i read up on it a little bit and i think ur right that i'd like it, i'll let u know when and how much i freak out while watching these, thanx again

Haha no worries man, people unfortunately never have as much free time as they need/like. I'm always up for trying new stuff, so any recs u have i'll for sure give em a shot, not really getting super enthralled with any of the stuff im watchin right now, and having a hard time finding others that seem appealling.

I've also started watching some subs out there, usually if the anime is sub only, i totally agree w/ u on the "watching" not "reading" part haha. I also agree that some voice actors we have are just plain crap, it usually doesnt bother me, i just sorta laugh at how ridiculous it is lol.

About Utawarerumono... I loved it so much that i watched it in one day and then bought the series on amazon the next day lol. It takes place in a fantasy world which has been struck by war. The main character is a man with amnesia found in the woods by a peaceful village with a mask on his face, that he can't seem to take off. The story follows his journey of finding out who he was, however, u seem to forget about that because of all the bloody wars that are waged against the other nations. The strength in Utawarerumono is in the character interaction. Absolutely fell in love with every one of the main/supporting protagonists, save 1 named Kamyu. Each one is unique, and they all leave they're mark on the story in a very distinct and (sorry for my breaking of review character) AWESOME way lol. The ending is a bit weird, but its not bad. It doesn't leave any plot holes or questions unanswered. It also has pretty good dubs.

Sorry for the college essay lol, lookin forward 2 hearin back from u with some recs.
