I've read some pretty horrible reviews on this anime, but I had decided to watch it anyways. The characters were good, each with their own unique personalities. Rizel was almost disgustingly cute, on the verge of annoying. I could also say that about the theme song. It's now and forever going to be stuck in my head >_>;
This anime had the sort of plot that looks like it's been done so many times, but I still enjoyed it. A lot of reviews have also said that Rizelmine was on the boundaries of being "Morally Acceptable". Sure there is a good amount of verbal and physical abuse, but I did not think it actually degraded the quality of the anime.
All in all, I enjoyed watching Rizelmine. I was able to connect to the characters, cry with them, and laugh at their idiocracy.
This is quite an interesting show. It does have all the elements that SHOULD make it an anime worth seeing. Interesting characters, unique settings, mythology, and some supernatural stuff at play.
The first few episodes really draw you into what seems to be a promising story. What actually happens as the story pans out falls somewhat short of that. The show seems to build up towards the large main plot, but focuses more on a shorter side story. Continual hints are thrown around about what the main plot was, but were never really elaborated any further. It was like nothing really was solved over the course of 13 episodes.
The artwork was really well done, the character design was fantastic considering the Era it was based in.
At the ending of the show, I was a little dissapointed, and felt that there should have been more of an explanation.
I guess I will have to wait for Season 2!
