Hope you're well old man! I miss the old A-P too. It stung losing my shit posting history. I've been back recently now that I've been watching shows so I stay mostly in those threads.

R18 says... i'm alive...ish....i do miss a-p but not the a-p as it is now...they went away from being a fun place to tal wioth friends to a sort of dry and crappy control freak forum...the mods they had were not nice and the rapinh of the forum history just nailed the lid on a-p's coffin...i wish it was different ...but i can't particapate in a forum that allows mods to treat members like i was treated...i wish you well and if i ever decided to come back it will only beafter the forum returns to the way it was...so no chance of that....i hope to see you on another forum some day..

Funnily enough, the worst I was ever treated in the Forum by a mod was when I first joined the forum, a couple of years back.

I've had a ton of fun times there since, though, and miss the old camaraderie. I had/have high hopes for the new forum, now that everyone can participate without creating a special forum account, but have also some issues with some of the way things have been/are being done. I think nuking the history was not the best idea, but I can sort of see why- a general cleanup was needed (I lost some important-to-me threads, too) and getting rid of the "general dump" threads also not a good idea (I see why, again, but the fact that so many people were at least actively taking the time to post, even if it wasn't more than a few words nor on topic, to me indicated that those threads -did- actually serve a purpose. And I don't really agree that they were useless. Just because many posts were nothing more than "I agree" doesn't mean those posts didn't count imo.

And the worst was getting rid of the Forum games and clubs. I've heard the reasons, but I just don't agree. Who cares if many were just picture dumping grounds? Those pics were sometimes really meaningful to the club members (even if some were not advertiser-friendly) and got people posting. Sure, they weren't deep meaningful and/or analytical and insightful conversations and many were inane and pointless (Last person to post here game, for instance!) but even though irrelevant and non-anime related (your birthday posts, for instance) they could be touching and meaningful to the folks participating and made the Forums feel less sterile and more like a true Community.

I don't get/haven't seen the over-moderating in the Forums you've seen, although I have seen more mod activity, but that's not necessarily a bad thing in my book. People can be strange, and annoying and totally disregarding of rules and decent treatment of others, and mods stepping in to fix those tendencies of people is not a bad thing to me. I'm real sorry that you got mistreated and made to feel bad, because that's not been my Forum experience, and I'm especially sad you feel chased away.

If you find a new hangout, please let me know and I can check it out too. Although, I do plan to stick around here. And hope the Forums become a cool place to hang out again!
