Happy New Years (2010) to anyone who reads this! As the title states, it's a new "what I've watched from X date to X date" blog. This set is from November 1st to January 1st. If I must say, I did a lot better this time period then I had in the last. Some series were really good while others were just plain MEH! And to cut to the chase, here's the massive list.
Maria-sama ga Miteru Finished November 15, 2009
Great series and looking forward to starting the next season. Very, pleasantly surprised at how good this was. Totally blew my expectations away. Honestly, I could still watch this if it was only about Sachiko and Yumi the entire time. The whole cast has interesting stories and they’re all not as perfect as they were first brought out to be. Very happy with the way this turned out. And the chibi shorts that I watched recapping the season were HILARIOUS. I couldn’t stop laughing in any of them, they were priceless.

Maria-sama ga Miteru ~ Haru Finished November 16, 2009
Season 2 was definitely much better in the drama element then the former. Especially the graduation ceremony in the first half of it. I’m also very happy that Sei was still in the big picture, she’s probably my favorite of the 1st set of Roses. Really not much else to say since most of it is the same characters with only two new ones. The last episode was pretty disappointing, I was hoping for at least another episode but I suppose it’ll suffice since I still have the OVA and the 3rd series to watch.

Maria-sama ga Miteru 3rd Finished November 17, 2009
I went into this thinking the episodes were the usual length of most series OVAs but damn was I wrong, haha. Overall, I believe the time length per episode was pefect for it’s length. This series has yet to fail me in any way that I can think of. The drama is great, the interactions are real and go accordingly, to my knowledge at least, and most of all the relationship between Sachiko and Yumi was still building. Throughout these three season, Yumi really has grasped how to handle Sachiko and it’s great as to how they interact with each other now. Sachiko’s cousin Touka wasn’t as annoying either, she played a very good role and it seems she may be a potential souer for Yumi.

Maria-sama ga Miteru 4th Finished November 18, 2009
Rarely do I ever marathon so many episodes in a row but Marimite is just unbearable not to watch. Sachiko is such a pleasure to watch along with “some” of the other characters in the cast. Since the story revolves around Yumi, whom I like just as much as Sachiko.. maybe a bit less, lets be honest, hah.. I can’t help but like her. Yoshino’s being very frank and honest about anything can be really funny sometimes too. Really, the only person I didn’t like was Touka. I understand that she’s stubborn and stuck up but my god woman, get over it. It’s so obvious that she was spoiled growing up even though she’s a foster child. Surugu, Sachiko’s fiance (I can never remember his family name), has become a really good character too. His advice to Yumi on multiple occasions was really, really good.
Last but not least in all of the little chibi shorts I couldn’t stop laughing. Some of them are so funny I had dry my eyes from laughing so hard.

Strawberry Panic Finished December 12, 2009
Ok.. WAY too yurilicious for my tastes. I’ll state that first. Secondly, Kaori… stupid arc. It was like watching a shortened version of that damn Mandy Moore movie years ago. The ending, I absolutely hated the ending. It could have been far more creative but NOOOOO, they just had to go with the usual type of ending for this type of story. Aggravates me quite a bit. Yaya and Tama were the only two I liked in the story by the end even though what they did was expected. Either way, I need to watch something super gory and violent now. Five shoujo series makes me feel like a little girl now *cries*

Kara no Kyoukai 7 ~ Series officially finished December 14, 2009
Seven… it wasn’t as good as some of the others but good nonetheless. This OVA series never once let me down. The ending was great, the action was great, the story was great and furthermore, everything gets resolved. THAT is one thing I’m so happy about. I can’t describe in words as to how great this set of movies is, was and are. I don’t really know how accurate this is in accordance to the books, but in regards to that, it was awesome. This was good enough to replace Berserk which was originally my number one. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes horror, drama, gore, gore and more gore. And to top it off, this story is by TYPE-MOON.

Kampfer finished December 18, 2009
Super bad show but a hell of a lot better then Akikan. The genderbender kinda threw me off for a bit but after awhile I got used to it. The main reason I kept watching the show is because Shizuku was awesome. And then.. the end.. *cries,* she likes falls off the end of the earth….

Sacred Blacksmith finished December 21, 2009
*sigh* The first episode was interesting and the second caught my attention. After that, the show wasn’t bad but it also wasn’t making very much progress in the plot other then Cecily trying to get Luke’s attention and get him to make her a katana. Really the only person I liked the most was Aria. She’s a darlin and the best character in the series. The ending was somewhat interesting but as a whole, I was greatly disappointed in how this turned out.

Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu: Purreza finished December 22, 2009
Started off fairly interesting but turned into a massive tease within the next few episodes. To say, in the least, it didn’t quite stop there… the tease was still in full force by the end of episode 12.

Seitokei no Ichizon finished December 24, 2009
This actually became a lot better the further in it went. The first few episodes were decent. Nothing to be surprised about and were fairly boring. But then some “drama” started to occur mixed in with the comedy and it got a lot better then it originally was. The last episode was pretty good as well I might add. I personally loved the way Mafuyu was handled in it as well as Sugisaka, haha. Overall, this was a pleasing show to watch in the long run.

11eyes finished December 25, 2009
This was um… very different. The panty shots got out of hand and the story go lame pretty fast as well. Then there came yandere Yuka, holy moley was that a laughing fest. Overall there really isn’t much to say about 11eyes other then it progressively became worse with a very lame happy ending.

Umineko no Naku Koro ni finished December 25, 2009
Hrm.. where to begin. If this was uncensored from the get go, it’d be one hell of a violent show. On the other hand, due to it being a visual novel, originally, A LOT was left out and that left me greatly disappointed. I will point out, based on what I read in the forums, not many liked the last episode. I, for one, enjoyed it quite a bit and hope an OVA series or another season is made since it left the ending very open.

Nyan Koi finished December 25, 2009
I decided to marathon this one over the course of a day or so. It was very funny and was a pretty good mood lifter for me since I couldn’t do anything this year for the holidays. The only thing I was really disappointed about was that the show techincally didn’t’ end. There’s plenty of things to go off of still and nothing has been resolved.

Tayutama –Kiss on my Diety- finished December 25, 2009
Nice little magical show with some pretty funny comedy here and there. There was quite a bit more drama then comedy though. I think what I liked the most about this show was the ending. It was a pretty predictable ending but the protagonist made his choice and there was even a future scene, which looked very pretty might I add. I enjoyed this one quite a bit.
3.5/5
Hyakko finished December 28, 2009
This was a nice comedy and slice of life series. Most of it was comedy and there really wasn’t a story arc until the last 2 or 3 episodes. I really like how they managed the last episode. It was a nice introduction of some of the characters even though you knew who they were already and it was especially nice seeing what Torako’s life was like before going into high school after what was shown in the prior episode.

It's funny, I started Marimite and ended up marathoning all the seasons in a handful of days and absolutely adored it. Loved it so much that I'll be purchasing the whole set (that's available of course in the states) with my tax returns in hopefully 3 or 4 weeks!
I also started an amazing manga series, Ubel Blatt. It's dark, it's 'Berserk' themed in a sense and it's really dark. I absolutely love it! I also went on a spending spree these past 3 weeks...
Lets see, I ordered:
Gunslinger Girl: Il Teatrino OVA / Jigoku Shoujo / Fate/Stay Night Boxset / Spice and Wolf S1 Boxset / Last Exile Boxset / Suzuka Boxset / Shuffle! Boxset / Evangelion 1.01 / Lunar Legend Tsukihime Boxset / Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Boxset / The Girl Who Leapt Through Time / Lucky Star OVA / Mai Otome Zwei Boxset
I know I'm probably forgetting a couple but that's all I can remember off the top of my head, haha.
Needless to say, I spent quite a bit of my Christmas money on some GUUD STUFF! I know for a fact I won't be watching as much from Jan 1 to Mar 1 but we'll see. The winter season has quite the disappointing set up so I only have like 3 shows total I'd like to pay attention to. Maybe I'll end up finishing some series I've already started? Who knows.. that list would be
Air Gear / Lovely Complex / Karin / Zettai Karen Children (hilarious) / Gintama / Fafner and probably many others.
I do know for a fact though, the first show I will watch and finish will be this weekend. That show would be Murder Princess, for the watch group. Looking very eager to it for tomorrow! Till then, you'll find out my opinion on it and most likely a handful of others on the evening of March 1, 2010!
