WHELP! Here's my second 2 month "what I've watched" blog! Not as many as I had hoped.. which means I had somewhat of a life in the last 2 months, haha, but I did complete a sane amount for my tastes.
Some are from the summer season of 2009 and I decided to count them since technically, I DID finish them. Whereas some series that I did start, I only went halfway in on them, if that.
And here they be:
Asura Cryin’ Finished September 21, 2009
Whew, finished this just in time for the new season! Overall it wasn’t really a bad show and it started getting a lot better towards the end. The show really could of done without the ecchi, it got really annoying after awhile. The one president with the sword in the last 2 episodes…. Holy shit she’s amazing and probably my most favorite character in the series. HOPEFULLY she’s in season 2. And season 2 also looks like it’ll be A LOT darker then this one with what happened at the end.
Princess Lover Finished September 24, 2009
Started off really well. The first two episodes introduced what didn’t seem like it would turn into a harem at all but man oh man was I wrong about that. It’s harem galore, especially towards the later episodes. Some of it really was funny, I’ll give it that much but Arima’s cheesyness kinda ruined a LOT of that in the last few episodes. Hazelrink was the most annoying in the group of 4 girls with the other 3 ranking sooooo much higher in quality compared to her. All Charlotte had going for her were boobs, that’s it. Her ditsy personality was too much for me.
Queen’s Blade S1 Finished September 26, 2009
Boobeh’s! That sums up this series to the nth degree. The plot, semi interesting, the action scenes were not done well at all. Really this is just one big massive fan service anime that borders being a hentai.
Bakemonogatari Finished September 28, 2009
Awesome story arcs. Senjougahara is awesome. Araragi’s thoughts and comments are hilarious along with his actions and reactions to various things throughout the series. A lot was left unanswered but I’m hoping the 3 internet episodes answer most of them. Kanbaru is indeed a very kinky individual, she’s very honest with everything. Hanekawa and her “meowhahaha” was great, I can’t get enough of it and I really wish they would finish that arc, although something tells me the 3 extra episodes will be about that because of what was mentioned in the last episode. Overall, a great anime.
Saki Finished September 28, 2009
Great series! It lagged at times but in the long run it was truly an interesting piece to watch. Takei Hisa, my favorite in the whole thing thus far was simply superb. I loved her character to death. Saki and Nodoka’s intimate scenes really aggravated me the most throughout the whole series. I’m really hoping it’s toned down for the next season. Onward! To the Nationals!
Bleach: Fade to Black Finished October 4, 2009
It was.. okay. Nothing really special but a ton better then the second movie. So many flashbacks of the first episode in the series that I wanted to fast forward quite a bit. And there were several things that happened that shouldn’t even be remotely possible. Like Kisuke being in Soul Society, it’s impossible, even with memory loss. Over all the movie kept me interested, some of the animation was well done but in the end, I left me fairly bored.
Busou Renkin Finished October 9, 2009
Overall it wasn’t a bad watch at all. The story was interesting and Tokiko was a pretty awesome heroine. The ending somewhat disppointed me but over all it was a pleasureable watch. I could of gone without seeing Papillon dressed the way he was but meh, he was the smartest one in the whole series. In the end, easily watchable for anyone that is into this kind of show. There are not too many negatives for this show.
Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Finished October 12, 2009
This had a pretty good story line. It definitely wasn’t in my tastes and it took me a good 6 months to finish it but I did finish it! It really was too magical girly for me though, haha. All in all, I liked Fate Testarossa the most, she grew quite a bit from the beginning of the show and Nanoha, well, she pretty much stayed the same thoughout until she made up her mind on what she wanted to do. Like I said before, the show isn’t in my taste range but it was pretty good nonetheless.
Mai Otome ~ Rewatch, 5th time. Finished October 29, 2009
It’s amazing how the more you watch a movie or series, the more you notice and the more you pick up on it every time you watch it. This did exactly that and it kept what it had from what I watched it the first time. I did notice, however, the introduction of too many new characters in the last 5 episodes. They should of done more to introduce the First and Fourth? of the Five Pillars. I mean, they did explain who they are but didn’t really get too deep into why one was in Zipang and they don’t even explain what the other one even does.
Another qualm I have is not enough Mai. Even though she isn’t an important character, more information should have been added to her background. It’d be really nice if they made another Mai Otome but focused on the time when Mai, Natsuki, Shizuru and Haruka were in the school, it would of made a pretty funny comedy.
Lunar Legend Tsukihime – Finished October 31, 2009
Stellar, superb, dark, twisted, sad and so many more could be described for this story. I went into it without knowing a thing other then the massive similarities to it with Kara no Kyoukai and I was simply stunned at how great a story it was. I would truly love to get my hands on the novel for this. This is definitely top 5 material for me. Something like this doesn’t come my way very often anymore.
I decided to go a bit more exact on the date when I finished them. The series that I started but never really finished were Fafner, Karin, Strawberry Panic, Jubei Chan S1, Sister Princess, Lovely Complex, Gintama, Star Ocean EX, Samurai Girl Real Bout High School Sumomomo Momomo and Manabi Straight.
The last series I watched turned into a top 5 and it was the show I decided to marathon on Halloween since I couldn't go out and have fun. I'm very pleased I did that.
That is really all I can think of to say right now since I'm tired and normally not up this late. I'll be posting an update on how I feel I'm doing for the next 2 month stint which will end on January 1st, 2010!
Oh, did I mention I "nearly" met my goal of 10 new series/OVAs/movies... that Damn Mai Otome left me one short :(
