If you liked the crossover between magic and technology in Scrapped Princess, you will probably like FMA too. Alchemy is in itself an elaborate science, which can be used to perform super/inhuman acts. Pacifica shares a strong bond with her brethren, so do the Elric Brothers. In FMA, Edward and Alphonse Elric struggle to regain what they have lost for making a terrible mistake, and are seeking the power to correct, what has been lost to them, just like Pacifica seeks a home, in a world completely hostile to her. In general, you should consider watching FMA, even though it is a mega series, since the overall feel of those two series is very similar. Deep contemplatory scenes are paired with action-packed fighting sequences and lots of character developement. Actually you can't really go wrong with FMA, so watch it! Right NOW!
If you like harem comedy, you will like Tenchi. Aside from occasional science fiction battles, you will find this series very humorous, and similarily entertaining, in short: very much like Love Hina. There are some differences in the character design, which expresses more maturity and less frontal assault humour. In overall I found the OVA of Tenchi a bit more grown up than the TV show, but they are both worthy of watching.
Pacifica Casull too was the key to saving the world. The X series goes along the same lines as Scrapped Princess, when it comes to contemplation about the meaning of life and the power of an Individual. Kamui is a troubled child with many contradicted visions of the world, and as he meets more people, who are seeking to find their place in the world, just like Pacifica did, he must choose whether he wants to remain himself, or become another person for the sake of his friends. The overall look and feel of the series are different, since it's centered mostly on Kamui. There are more fighting scenes and the plot is a bit "flatter" than the one in Scrapped Princess. In general you should consider watching X, if you liked the troubled part Pacifica played in Scrapped Princess.
Just like Urashima Keitaro, Sawamura Seiji has problems in school, but unlike Keitaro, he vents them into aggressive misdemeanour towards other delinquents. If you sympathized with Keitaro in Love Hina, you will probably sympathize with Seiji too, especially because his love life is even more troubled than Keitaro's was, even though the occasional Naru-punch is missing.
Heavy Fantasy, but without the science ficiton aspect. Scrapped Princess focussed primarily on character developement, whereas RoLW is focussing on grander world threatening plot twists. The OVA is indeed SO much better than the TV show. In general the struggle between two opposing, yet not so different parties dominates the plot in this series. Just like in Scrapped Princess the heroes are seeking to find their place in a hostile world, which is threatened by immanent danger. RoLW is hardcore fantasy though, and you should be aware of that, when considering to watch it.
