Hello, I am a college student currently majoring in Business and minoring in English and Digital Art!
I'm hoping to get in the producing business once I graduate but given my fickle mind that is subject to change.
Given my laziness, I spend most of my time at the computer watching anime. I started watching anime when I was in third or fourth grade (when I didn't even know what it was), but started watching it religiously in eighth grade. Given my busy schedule and my major, I don't actually have that much time at the computer, but when I am, well, I already explained that part.
The reason I don't watch more anime, is because I'm fickle. If I don't like something, I will drop it immediately. I just don't have the patience to continue on with a series in the hopes it will improve if I can just find a new one, that has the potential to be better. I usually stick to very similar types of anime, but I've been working on expanding my horizons and such.

Konnichiwa!
first off your avatar is extremely cute XD and thanks for the kind words! I'm glad you use AP for your recs.
We actually have a big forum section dedicated just to signature backgrounds - additionally, if you have somethng in mind that you cant find a background for, you can request one there too (community members pitch in when they can). Here's the section: http://www.anime-planet.com/forum/custom-signatures/
As a note, if you haven't registered in the forum yet, those accounts are separate from the site ones, so you'll just need to click the 'register' link in the forum too (just use the same name).
Once you have a background that you like, just go to your profile, and click the 'signature' tab on the top - there's an option there to either use a default one, or to upload a different one - you'd upload what you found in the forum ^_^ (of course, this means you'd save it to your computer first).
Hope this helps!
