Xam'd: Lost Memories

Nov 22, 2009

Plot: The plotline of Xam'd, although pretty original and not very predictable, is not the strong point. I had no problems with the plot and really liked it, except for the fact that a clear explanation of why a war was being waged between the North and the South was never explained. Sometimes the episodes meanderd a bit during the first third of the series. Also, for those people who don't like slice of life type of stories might find the beginning a bit slow. However, since I do enjoy slice of life, I had no problems. However in the last part, the director knows exactly what he wants to do. It isn't rushed... See full review

Birdy the Mighty: Decode 2

Nov 22, 2009

Plot:Usually sequals tend to be worse than the originals, but, Birdy the second season manages to flip that theory compeletly upside down. The sequal focuses much more on Birdy. Tsutomu probably appeared for a full fifteen minutes (or less) if you combined all the scenes where he was in. The main focus is probably Birdy's relationship with Nataru and their pasts, and this time, there is no "saving the world" thing going on. It's on a much smaller scale when it comes to that. Of course, there still are "bad guys" although, you start having doubts on how evil they are as the series... See full review

Hotarubi no Mori e

May 20, 2012

Story: The wonderful aspect of this story is the simplicity of it. In the short 45 minutes the story is fully developed, and since it is so simple, it is wonderfully paced. It isn't drawn out, but it has enough time to accomplish what it sets out to do. It has a predictable ending, but that doesn't take away from the plot at all, in fact, I actually appreciated the predictablilty. It didn't take any unecessary twists so the simplicity was preserved, and therefore the impact of the story hit harder. The story actually almost feels like a long episode of Natsume Yujincho, which isn't all that surprising... See full review

Birdy the Mighty: Decode

Nov 22, 2009

Plot: Don't let the synopsis fool you. I started watching Birdy the Mighty Decode with the thought that it would be so bad, that it would actually be funny. Anyways, the story has an intriguing plot line that isn't too predictable. At times, it can get a little slow paced, but not in a bad way. I'd say this show is a combination of a little bit of action, and a little bit of slice of life. In this season, the first part of the show mostly focuses on Tsutomu his relationship with Sayaka, and him and Birdy getting used to each other's presence and straightening things out (since they ARE sharing a body).But... Phi Brain: Puzzle of God

Apr 18, 2012

Plot: This is one of those shows that you know is mediocore, but nonetheless, you still find yourself enjoying it. The premise of the show is interesting, life threatening puzzles set up by a mysterious organization; the POG. It's definitely different in its own way. The show uses it's 26 episodes well, so the pacing is pretty good. It takes its time to flesh out the main characters, and once the main villain enters the show, things pick up fairly quickly, and it becomes much more interesting. Since the first half of the show serves as build up, it's fairly episodic, and therefore a bit more dull, since... See full review

Generator Gawl

Dec 14, 2011

Plot: So I mainly picked up this show to satisfy my action cravings. It accomplished this aspect very well. However, the story itself isn't very original. Basically, people come from the future, try to save the past while infiltrating a high school yada yada yada. It's been done before, many many times. Still, the show itself was interesting to watch. Even though the plot wasn't intricate or original, I still found myself excited for the next episode, so the entertainment aspect of this show was (at least for me) good compared to what I thought it would be. There were also a couple of plot twists at the... See full review

Darker than Black: Gemini of the Meteor

Jan 28, 2010

Plot:I must say that Darker than Black is one of my favorite animes. So when I found out about the sequel, I was hyped. Now, because I like the first one so much, I expected the sequel to reach the same level, or even higher than its predecessor. Sort of like Birdy the Mighty Decode. To be frank. I was dissapointed.First of all, some things are pulled out of thin air. Apparently, Yin was Hei's "woman". What? Where the hell did that come from? Based on the first series, Hei treated Yin only as a good friend. What ever "romance" (if you can call it that) went on in the first series was... See full review

Project ARMS

Oct 2, 2010

Story:Well...it was your average shounen series I guess. Except this one had a darker twist to it.Honestly though, it was nothing new. Boy gets power. He's scared of power. Faces strong opponent. Defeats opponent. Meets even stronger opponent, etc. And the way the series set the powers up was very convenient, they get stronger with every usage. So, I guess I knew what I was headed for, so I wasn't too dissapointed. Actually, it was the opposite. This series is as cliche and predictable (for the most part) as these types of shows get. Yet for some reason, I couldn't stop watching it. I had to continue, I had... See full review

Aquarian Age

May 8, 2010

Story:In the beginning (meaning the first couple of episodes) I happened to really like this show. I mean, the characters were very relatable, and there weren't any forced actions between the characters. Also, the idea of combining super powers and the entertainment industry is certainly...unique. So I kept going on eagerly....and was bitterly dissapointed. After the first few episodes, every single episode after that is pure unadultarated angst. The main character angsted, which made his band angst. Then his girl friend angsted, and then he angsted some more because everyone else was angsting. Honestly, I... See full review

Night Wizard

Nov 22, 2009

Plot:I have forced myself to watch this anime, just so I could submit a review to tear this piece of crap apart. The plot, completely unoriginal. Mindless slashing, screaming, and shooting of demons basically sums up the entire plot. Even action junkies such as myself, will find the action sequences dull, cliche, and uninteresting. I think my IQ dropped 10 points after I finished this series.I generally watch anime for two reasons:1) To find a rare meaningful anime that will leave a lasting impact and can be watched countless amounts of times because it is that epic.2) To waste time. This anime, was so...
