You don't have your own reviewing channel do you? I admire the channel's ability to gather mass data and effort put into it. But out of personal taste it's not for me.  But hey GitS, ill give it a listen.

With Arise personnaly I almost want to forget that it exists, treating it as an elephant in the room yet watching it, "deffinetly dosint help when you've later seen a movie screening of it :S". Luckly (I'm not alone) as my friends agree.

Hey, love your profile, remember you on some podcast 2 years ago but didnt think I'd find you on Anime Planet by chance.  Just been having a gander at your reviews now.  You make some great points about shows, when it comes to asthetics and even chactor's psyche.

Right you are: Akira is indeed fanservice for manga fans, and a pretty good fanservice considering how well-animated it is. I have no problem with that. The problem is it's hailed by almost everyone as a part of anime elite, which only creates false expectations because this movie clearly doesn't belong there: it's just a well-animated action flick with interesting yet half-baked ideas and primitive, unlikeable characters if you view it as a stand-alone work.

I haven't watched Batman the Series yet. However, I have watched Animatrix, and they seem to be very similar, at least when it comes to the overall concept. So, if you like Batman, try Animatrix too: it's also not perfect, but enjoyable nevertheless.
