The premise is hardly original. What makes this anime score so highly is how well it merges elements of lots of different genres together. This anime is a very good stepping stone if you are going from more action-based story to more relationship-based story or the other way.

Outdated. If you haven't watched any older anime at all the older style may throw you slightly. I am, by no means calling it bad but even for its age it can only be called O.K.

Mostly, the music fits very well. It is, like the story, a mix of two differeent styles. This mix of classical and pop music works well throughout and plays on the merging of the, seemingly at odds, anime types. The voices work well with the characters and help to reinforce theri humanity.

Some interesting, some disappointing. There is some nice touches. In particular the show's handling of some of the female characters. Some side characters are not the pushovers that you expect and the lead isn't as unfazed as other leads in other shows. The gravity of her situation sways her in a way that makes it a lot easier to relate to.

A little bit old feeling, but still very good. Very few people will not enjoy this
