I'm a big fan of anime about nothing too... currently watching Mushishi and I'm loving it. I've been meaning to check out the Aria series as well!

Yeah, IMMSE is pretty much complete ass. I hate harem anime though, so that could be why ;)
BTW: *fantastic* recommendations so far! Well thought out, as opposed to the typical "here's every single similarity" recs most people do. As a note, in case you still have Angel Tales and wouldn't mind taking some shots or writing a synopsis, I've badly needed a new entry for it for awhile now. The synopsis is too reviewy (they shouldn't sound like a review piece) and the screenshots aren't good. If you are up for it, go to the AniRec and click the "how to add anime" link on the left side nav. Sorry for its length, I need to trim it down! I also think I still need an entry for Angel Tales (angel's tail, whatever) 2!
