Sakurada Reset

Dec 24, 2018

This was one very hard to follow story, due to not only a lot of time skipping you are also challenged with timelines being altered almost every episode. More over, often things are left unsaid or unexplained so that the mystery is left for later episodes to explain. It takes a lot of memory and comprehention to keep up, not something everyone can do. Perhaps, in that way, it can be considered a failure as a show. Story: What starts out as a story about a boy trying to help a girl detached from her emotions to find her humanity again eventually evolves into a multifaceted story that deals with a wide... Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend

Dec 10, 2018

Boring spinless male lead: Check 3+ women harem: Check Fanservice: Check Welcome to your standard rom/com formula since Love Hina! Points for otaku subculture? Not really. So you've stumbled onto my review of Saekano: How to make a Rom/Com 1999 eddition. This literally felt like someone had a check list as they were writing the show and had to include every trope they could in the process. I mean if it still works as a cohesive story, kudos. Only if. Story: Sure, there was one here, but really it was kind of just there as a backdrop for the interactions of the various girls in the show. Sprinkle some... See full review

Scrapped Princess

Apr 25, 2017

In my ongoing quest to watch my own top anime list, to see if the shows stand up to the test of time, I decided to pick this little gem of a show and I was glad I did. Story: Very few shows I've seen have the fully contained story in a single season, of those that do very few pull off the feat well. This is among those enjoyable few, then and now. Story is relatively distinct and still straight forward, ranges from ploding along to sudden jumps forward in plot but they don't tease you with information. You are left with a pretty good idea of what's going on way before the main trio is told, not that... See full review

Say "I love you."

Dec 13, 2014

Moral of the story; no one is without their scars, I think? Well, it's a very endearing love story too. Story: A wonderfully paced romance with speckling of comedy but a bit too much drama for my tastes. Which probably means if you're into romance dramas with a little comedy relief you're probably going to love this one. My only real problem with it was the final episode, just felt very forced and almost seemed more of a stumble at the end of a wonderful run. Personal opinion aside, it wasn't anything bad just how they did it which irked me. Animation: Definitely a well drawn and "true to... See full review

Shuffle!

Feb 17, 2012

The first time I saw Shuffle! I was enamored of it, several years later after browsing my Netflix options I found they had the show available for streaming and figured what the heck. Several other shows I've found the same way, having watched them again, did stand the test of time and English conversion, will this one follow suit? Sadly, the answer to that question, from my perspective, is not really. Story: Originally I remembered this story as endearing, funny, and interesting to watch. What I got was a ton of over used anime plot devices and tired character clichés. I had at one point thought... See full review

Sumomomo Momomo

Jan 19, 2011

This anime was a oddity for me. It had the queer ability to make me laugh my ass off while at the same time annoy the hell out of me. Story: To me, the main premise of the show was kinda dry, or in other words just lacked much in the way of substance. Frankly I don't think they were trying to hard here since I believe their main goal was to be funny, thankfully they at the very least achieved that. In the end, they did get kind of serious with it but they didn't try to shed the comedic value that they cultivated from episode 1. If you're looking for a great story, you're not going to find it here, if you... See full review

Summer Wars

May 28, 2010

Just sat down to watch this movie for the second time and loved it just as much!Story:Boy meets girl, boy likes girl, boy gets propositioned to be fake b/f in front of her family.... well ok so this doesn't sound like your typical love story, that's because it's not. Really what you're getting is a bit of shounen action, comedy relief set on a life or death struggle from a world wide web hacking AI backdrop. The story was quite good, had many twists some predictable, some not, and really just kept me glued to the screen for the whole hour and half it played.Animation:I'd like to say that the animation was... Serial Experiments Lain

Apr 12, 2010

There are really only a few words that can be used to describe SEL, mainly convoluted, and contradictory. I say contradictory because it did a lot of things that didn't mesh well and for the most part I think this was done purposefully. Maybe it was for artistic flair but for me it just got in the way of what could have been a good story.Sadly, I think my review of this title is going to be very much like the title itself, hard to understand, bear with me please.Story:There was a ton of potential here but they came at it from the middle of the plot and made you try to figure out what was going on with... Soul Eater

Dec 22, 2009

Honestly, I tried to watch this one because it was rated rather highly and people I've heard talk about it had good things to say but frankly, there was only one character that didn't get on my nerves completely and the rest of the show was completely pointless, repetitive, and idiotic. There didn't seem to be any real story to it so I'm frankly bemused as to how it got 50+ eps. Perhaps it did pick up after a while but 6 eps into a show and it couldn't hook me, more over it annoyed me, kinda gives me the impression that the rest of the show isn't going to be worth my time. Especially at 51 eps...The... See full review

Sekirei

Oct 3, 2009

Story/Plot: 5 It was mostly predictable but interesting enough to keep me watching. It's one of those times that predictability is more of a benefit than a hindrance to enjoyment. All in all though, there wasn't much meat to this and sometimes it just seemed like the writer was doing stuff just because they could... Animation: 6 This varied from so-so to decent, it wasn't ever really bad, and sometimes the designs and fluidity of movement was pretty good. There wasn't anything that truly stood out for me in a good or bad way... unless you count the boobs :\ Sounds/Music: 6 I rarely notice... See full review

Stellvia of the Universe

Oct 3, 2009

Story/Plot: 8 It was refreshing to find a story not about man vs man, or man vs hostile alien in a space sci-fi anime. I'd give it higher marks if it didn't use the same doom and gloom to all of human kind 3 times in a row but as it stands, this is just a personal taste thing. Over all the story and plot were excellent.Animation: 9 The designs, the fluidity, the over all scope of the show was highly enjoyable. Everything seemed to have a purpose and not just some randomly techy looking junk thrown in for atmosphere. It was highly thought out and it showed. Plus, their attention to space scapes...
