If you like Ed, imagine the golden goodness of 24 episodes of Ed, only she's trying to eat the dog. Bebop's lighter moments are amplfied to an mind puree-ing level in Excel. While Bebop has a discernable plot, Excel has insanity and excessive amounts of blood- and its not even horrifying, its hilarious. Now about the Pucuus....
Once you've seen the "Sugar" music video using FLCL footage, you will understand why Excel and FLCL fit so perfectly. Additionally, the insanity isn't complimentary, because no insanity is, but it manages to make you wish you would pass out before your head explodes if you watch these two in sucession. And yet, I find myself doing it over and over again. Don't want to think much, but want your head to hurt, watch Excel
Both this series and Eva have eerie neo-religious undertones that add a twist to how many episode can be viewed. Take them simply from the Hedonistic view, and you get the picture that some humans have to be horrible people, while others feel it is necessary to save the whole world. Take the pseudo-Christian viewpoint and the hero sarafices himself for the better good; and let's not forget the eternal struggle between good and evil. Additionally, the battles in each series are always beautiful to watch, even if you prefer Progressive knives, you might just find yourself liking the sword fights instead.
Lupin III is, more or less, a very campy Bebop set on late 1960's Earth. And with no central plot. And no spaceships, kung-fu battles, or non- speed-racer-ish animation. However, for some reason, you probably won't care. I really don't know why, but I can't really not like it. BONUS: Both Lupin and Spike share the same fancy-lad suit.
