Shows that would deserve a spot in the top 5:

• Lucky star :3
• Azumanga Daioh
• Planetes (felt like Genshiken in space because of the realistic characters)
• Bleach (for the first few seasons, and for being my first anime love)
• Hidamari sketch + specials and sequel (the ultimate feel-good anime)

Anime list ratings go (roughly) as follows:

5 stars: A series that I couldn't live without, something whose story, characters, or the overall mood were so good I just can't rate it rationally nor do I care of it's flaws; something I became immensely attached to.

4 stars: Definitely a good series; something that I remember as an enjoyable watch, but for some reason didn't quite suck me in like the shows that deserve 5 stars.

3 stars: It was alright and didn't feel like waste of time; a series that was just about worth watching but didn't quite have anything that would raise it above average.

2 stars: There wasn't anything that I directly hated, but the series just failed to keep me wanting more for the majority of time. Something I didn't have to see.

1 star: This series wasn't simply boring as hell but it also had aspects I really disliked. How the hell did I ever finish watching something like this?

I usually rate things based on how I felt right after watching them. Even though I often feel I should reduce stars from a series after a few months have passed, I tend to avoid doing this since I want to keep the touch of first impression on the score. Sometimes, however, I do adjust some ratings when I notice anomalies within the list, but it's often quite hard to determine whether I liked something more than something else, especially if the genres are completely different. To summarize, some of the scores might deserve to gain or lose a half star since I find it all rather difficult to resolve.
