Hello and welcome to my profile!

Favorite [whatever]:

- I tend to enjoy seinen anime and manga (excluding many ecchi stories), but manage to find something to love in any demographic (including yaoi and yuri). I also like shoujo, because those are the types of stories that got me hooked on anime and manga in the first place.

- My favorite genres include psychological, horror, thriller, and adventure. I love tightly woven, engaging stories that make you think, but aren't overly pretentious or convoluted. I tend to gravitate toward anime and manga aimed at older readers, but I have a soft spot for magical girl stories. Most magical girl shows and books are gratingly annoying, but I love a lot of them anyway.

- My least favorite genres include mecha, harem, reverse harem (adapted from otome games), and slice-of-life (including moe). I used to dislike sports anime and manga, but have been warming up to the genre lately. Mecha anime tend to bore me as I never found the mech battles particularly engaging, and I feel like a lot of the mech pilots are pretentious douchebags. I'm sure that there are some good mecha series out there, but I don't want to slog through more anime to find them. Harems annoy me for three basic reasons: 1.) the mandatory female tsundere, 2.) the bland, wish-fullfilment protagonist, and 3.) the replacement of plot and characterization with ecchi and random bouts of lust. Are there good harems out there that break the mold? Yeah, and I don't include them in this. But a lot of harems are just excuses to show breast shots and panty shots. Which brings up the following point--why didn't I include ecchi in this list? Because if ecchi doesn't become the purpose of the show (which is possible, as it doesn't have to be a genre), I don't mind it. I mean, who doesn't like seeing an artistically rendered pair of pantsu every now and then? Now, for reverse harems. I'm not including most non-otome game adaptations, because those can and sometimes do have strong, likable characters and intricate plots. (Granted, some are crappy, but they pale in comparison to some reverse harems). Otome game adaptations suffer from the wish-fullfilment protagonist problem, sometimes having protagonists so boring they don't even have names. I played a bit of an otome game as a super sweet, competent-until-the-plot-wouldn't-let-her-be-competent protagonist. And, yeah, it felt really sweet when a sexy young man acted all tsun tsun around me and blushed when I tended to his wound. But then I would turn the game off and realize that, not only was I not the cute heroine, but I was also not getting serenaded anytime soon. That's kind of how I feel watching most reverse harems. Like, "damn, it would be so awesome if ten bishies fell head over heels for me." And then reality hits and I'm just left sitting there thinking about how crappy the show was. Stupid reality. Finally, the slice-of-life and moe genres! (Yes, it has gotten to the point that the general consensus is that moe is in fact a genre.) The problem with slice-of-life is that it's either a boring story about some characters with lives slightly more interesting than mine (yep, reality hits you REALLY hard with this genre), or it's entertaing. More often than not, I lose out and find that bland slice-of-life story. Moe, which used to be a subgenre of slice-of-life, is crap aimed at people who like watching cute little girls doing cute things and just generally acting cute. If I need to explain why 99.99% of the stuff in this genre is absolute sh*t... then I've got some news for you.

... Ah, feck. I forgot: As far as I can see, I didn't write anywhere that it was a problem that you "rip off your parents" - so did I. The point was, as you correctly understood, that getting inspired is a part of life and that it shouldn't be concidered ripping anyone off.

Thank you for taking your time to actually write a response - I appreciate that. And to start off, I'd like to apologize for being so straight-forward/rude in my previous comment. I would still like to comment, though:

I could continue the argument regarding the bomb, the surreality of the situation and whether Sakamoto should be able to recognize it or not, but we're of different opinions, so we won't reach an agreement on that case - so let's leave it.

Next, you apologize for using the term "rip-off" instead of "unoriginal plot" and agree that it sounds stupid, yet you still insist I "misunderstood"? Maybe there's some annoying jargon being used here that I'm not aware of, but when people write that something is a "rip-off", I expect it to be that and not just something similar.

Concerning Yagami Light, I have no problem with you saying that Sakamoto looks like him. I believe I was thinking that you were considering him a rip-off too, and thus did the, in my opinion, same mistake with him as with the show itself.

Lastly, I was not aware that ElyOfIce was your friend, and thus probably had a better understanding of your point of view. However, I do think my commenting on her remark is still fair, seeing as other people might read it and be influenced by it.

I guess that's it on my part -- this time with less mad.

I actually graduated last year. I have yet to apply anything that a teacher thought was important I learn.

Firstly I will apologise I came across as a little rude due to being a little annoyed at the time but the truth is I am human, I have an opinion and I get emotional and sometimes those emotions will effect my opinion.

This isn't meant to be critical or preachy but just my opinion regarding why you write reviews. You should write them to have fun to get discussion going about a series you watched what it made you feel and what it made others feel from what you wrote to me it just comes across as a duty or that your trying to be a professional critic rather than a reviewer. Sorry if I got the wrong impression its just your response seemed to be too much of a text book answer at of your points sure facts are important but remember you are human and this entertainment so make sure you are having fun first before anything else :)

Anyway back on to the topic at hand sorry for my rant earlier but as to Btoom! being a guilty series that doesn't make sense because its plot seems unrealitistic. Seems to lack passion because why would you watch something that is completely realistic as anime why not watch tv shows instead or reality TV. I mean reality TV is as realistic as you can get. Okay I am just poking fun at your comment but really even the best anime shows arn't realsitc really if you are being brutally honest and you gave Death Note 4 stars now that show isn't realstic at all. Btoom!'s plot is actually far better than you think it is for a plot that isn't even complete yet. You probably think its stupid to set up a game where people kill each other and rich people pay good money to watch it. The truth is it is stupid and cruel but the harsh reality is due to what history has taught us people would do that if granted the chance to and the richest people in the world have more power than you could ever imagine. Covering up something of Btooom!'s level would be easy for them.

However the greatness of the plot is realised through its mockery of online FPS games like the popular Call of duty series and what those gamers what actually do if they had to actually kill each other. To truly appreciate the plot of Btooom! you need to be a gamer really and a fan of survival games like Battle royale and I don't know if you are a gamer but based on your reviews I don't think this genre will be something you enjoy. It's what is done in the gamining industry if the game's reviewer doesn't like a game about cars then they won't review it and review something else like an FPS or a platformer.

Also in future nevermind that people may not like you to hear you write about an anime in a positive manner if you want do that then go ahead just do what you want to do. Thanks for the quick response and I will learn not to be so rude in the future so thanks for your time.
