about me

Hey there. I'm Aurora. I've been into anime for about 8 years. My 1st anime was pokemon but my "starter" anime I consider to be Naruto as that has gotten me into all animes. and yea. Some may consider me quiet. But I can still talk with anyone as long as they're nice and respectful.

If you want to know more about me feel free to ask. I'll probally want to know more about you in exchange. I'll tell you simple things, but I will never say anything too personal like my "real name" even if you tell me yours so do not ask please.

Typically I don't have a particular favorite genre. Generally they involve an element of fantasy and psychological part. As long as the anime can hold my interest and allow me to connect with at least 1 of the main characters, I can watch almost any anime.

Here are some of my top favorite animes of all time. Keep in mind I love many animes and the ones I mention here are only around 5% of all the anime I love lol. Its just impossible to mention all of them in this profile description. It would also get boring for you to read possibly.

1. Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni- I basically watched this anime right after Elfen Lied since I've heard people compare this to Elfen Lied. It starts out innocent and cute and quickly gets creepy and brutal. You wouldn't believe this to be a horror anime from watching the 1st 2 episodes! This show also has a lot of characters I like which is important. Beyond the betrayal and paranoia present in this show, it holds great themes such as friendship and overcoming fate. And presents a mystery. It is mostly a debate between whether Oyashiro-sama's curse is actually a curse or caused by humans who want us to think it's Oyashiro-sama's curse. A similar theme is present in the sister series Umineko which is also just as good as Higurashi.

Higurashi

Higurashi

2. Brynhildr in the Darkness- Seeing as this was done by the creator of Elfen Lied, I had to see this. It is a sister of Elfen Lied with the same relationship as with Higurashi and Umineko. However the characters really stick out at you strongly, even more so than Elfen Lied. And they make you want to see them survive and life the "normal" life they couldn't live before. The Protagonist Ryouta is great. He has an ability called Photographic Memory which I refer to as Perfect Memory and has been haunted because he believes he caused his childhood friend's death. And he is unable to forget it and has avoided further relationships. This changes when a character who looks similar to his childhood friend appears, and it turns out she is a fugitive from an organization because she is a Witch with special powers. More of these witches eventually come in and Ryouta wants to help them survive against this organization and find out if aliens exist. It is painful to see the characters go through pain and near death experiences and you will want to see them survive regardless of the odds of certain torture and death.

Brynhildr

3. 11 Eyes- Got to say I really enjoyed this anime. It was one of those rare ones where there wasn't a single main/secondary character I disliked. Allow me to rant about its good points. Characters are taken to an parallel dimension (which is always a fun thing) and they fight Larves and a group called the Black Knights. They don't know why they are fighting. There is also a girl imprisioned in a crystal named Lisette. Without spoiling too much I will say she is my main favorite character from this show and one of my most favored characters of all time in anime on the par with Lucy (Elfen Lied), Light Yagami, and Shion Sonozaki. You will find out why if you've seen/ plan to watch this show. Also with Yuka in this show I love her too! She recieves a lot of dislike but she is still a great character. I can understand her actions at many points. (I also have a thing for Yandere action (Gasai Yuno!)) Another thing is is brilliant music. Lots of organ epicness which make this show 100x better than it already is.

11 eyes

4. Psycho Pass- This anime is true art. It is a sci-fi that takes place in a 1984 similar type of world. A person's potential to commit crime can be quantified and visualized. Even just thinking about a crime is enough to get you branded a latent criminal for the rest of your life. This is Japan ruled by the Sibyl System. The protagonist Akane Tsunemori is a new inspector who's job it is to track down criminals. With her are enforcers, who are latent criminals themselves, and track down other criminals while being watched by the inspectors. Their guns are sentient, they will only work if a target's crime coefficient is high enough. Opposing the Sibyl System is antagonist Shogo Makishima who seeks to bring people's free wills back. This is sort of a law vs chaos type of anime written by Gen Urobuchi (same person who wrote Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica, another great anime). The next generation Death Note. And has you decide which is the better of the 2 trying to make the world better. It is perfection, or as close to perfection as one can get.

Psycho Pass

5. Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica- Watching this show 2 times I've almost forgotten how awesome this show is. This is not your typical Sailor Moon Magical Superhero show. It is more like Higurashi combined with Claymore dealing with Magical girls. Similar to Higurashi in how it starts out somehow innocent but by episode 3 it takes a turn for the very dark horror that's familiar with shows like Higurashi and Shadow Star. It takes the concept of Magical Girl and twists it into a very horrifying story. It's perfecto! It goes without saying Homura is my favorite character from here (won't say why thou) Without spoiling too much (if I can help it) If you've seen Claymore you know how the female warriors who fight Yoma(demons) turn into Yoma themselves someday? Something similar happens here. Thou I may've said too much. Either way you have to watch it if you haven't seen it already. Aurora Commands you to!!

Madoka

Some others worth mentioning are:

Naruto- Not the 1st anime I watched but it was the anime that got me into anime

Angel Beats- This anime was awesome for being unique and set in a world after death where people can imagine and summon weapons and fight without worrying about death. The character of Tenshi is also facinating, you'll love her if you watch the show.

Inuyasha- A very good anime. It has about something for everyone. 2 Tsunderes who have a relationship that builds throughout the show. And the protagonists and the other groups of anti-heroes are bound by the hatred of a common enemy. Naraku, a hanyo just like Inuyasha. It is the best 100+ ep anime out there with minimal filler.

Death Note- 3rd anime I think. It showed me there was more to anime than just the typical Shounen plot/fights. There's the awesome Mental/psychological battles. A key thing is that I personally agree with Light's ideals he worked hard to make the world a better place. That's not something that can be considered "evil" as some think of him. Clearly because of this I hated the ending and hated the 2nd season as a whole. The show didn't feel the same after the 1st season.

Mirai Nikki A survival game with the main tool being a Diary (cell phone/scroll) that can see into the future. It is similar to Fate/SN and The Hunger Games with the survival game aspect. Thou what really makes it interesting are the characters of Yuno Gasai and Minene Uryu. They bring awesome qualities to the show and are fun characters to watch.

Code Geass- Like Death Note but a little more physical action lol. Can't help but wonder if I got my insane obsession with eyes and psychology from this anime? O_O

D. Gray Man- I have respect for this anime even though its shounen it shows deeper meaning and emotions than typical Shounen animes. Allen Walker is fun to watch. Also has a pretty kick ass villian. Who has an interesting personality.

3x3 Eyes- Normally this anime would be on my top 5. Even above Elfen Lied if I see the whole series. Thou the manga series I found out is about 40 volumes long and the anime ova only covers an 1/8th of that. While the Elfen Lied Anime at least covered 1/2th of the manga. It is a very interesting series from what I've seen so far and thought I should mention it. I even heard it inspired part of Elfen Lied which would automatically ensure a place on my top 5.

Jigoku Shoujo- Similar to Death Note dealing in a dark atmopshere. Every episode seeing Enma Ai-san take requests to send people to hell is interesting, especially since 90% of the time the recipiants of the curse are total bastards which makes it even more satisfying. It also has a very great Soundtrack.

Some anime characters I really love:

Lucy

Lucy-Sama

Shion

Shion-Sama

Light

Light-Sama

Liselotte

Lieselotte-Sama

I'm afraid I have to put up a collection of Yuki-Onna pictures They're my favorite type of Youkai so you know. I must!

 Yuki Onna

There are manyy other characters I love as well. These are the main ones which have sparked special moments in their animes And hold a special place of respect for Aurora.

I also read visual novels, I don't have a very big collection right now, but I forsee my collection growing in the future. My favorites for now include:

Yumina the Ethereal- This is the main 1st visual novel I've bought. It has a fantastic and unique story with memorable characters, it also has some rpg elements that make it even more interesting. There isn't really a genre you can classify this story in as it seems to be one of those that have a little of everything.

Saya No Uta/Song of Saya- Being a fan of Madoka Magica, Psycho-Pass, and Fate/Zero, it follows that a visual novel I would have to have would come from the writer of the series mentioned above. Gen Urobuchi! It was a great story of course and similar to Umineko, it really messed with my head planting questions such as "what is reality". While it is difficult to make sense of these questions, they are interesting to think about.

Video Games are another hobby of mine. I can't count how many I've played though the series that have stood out most to me throughout my life include:

Metroid Series- Pretty much my 1st official video game series I really started playing it deserves a mention. I've played video games before with my friends but from 1st owning a Gameboy Advance I've been hooked to the Metroid series for forever basically. I love pretty much all the games before Other M. With Metroid Prime 2: Echoes being my favorite. Super Metroid/Metroid Prime also coming close. I would consider Metroid to be the best creation of Nintendo for having incredible gameplay (in both 3rd& 1st person) interesting aliens, along with a great overall story that slowly pans out. 3 great things that make for a great game.

Shin Megami Tensei series- by chance I discovered this game at a local gamestore, for only $20 this proved to be one of the best game purchases I ever made. I played SMT: Devil Survivor seeing as RPGs are awesome this one was a classic awesome rpg. I think it to be better than pokemon or any other rpg I've played before. To call it my favorite RPG would be an understatement. You get to control and fight demons YES!! DEMONS!! and choose different routes. The ending and enemies change depending on which path you take which is normally either a Law (totalitarian) or Chaos (Anarchy) path. 2 extremes. There is Neutral as well, but being in the middle of things may not suit me as much. My type of game. Thanks to a facination with demons and rpgs. I've gotten other games in the series such as Strange Journey and Devil Survivor 2. Plan to get more in the future. All the games in this series I've played so far have proven to be quite difficult of course being very fun as well. had the 3 games for several months and I've only beaten Devil Survivor so far. Close to beating Strange Journey but wow its difficult. On the final boss now but can't beat it due to being severely underleveled and not having good enough moves to counter the 1 hit kos the boss throws at you.

haha its simular thing here, i was sitting here last night and thought i would come catch up on the replies and then i got distracted with some new software, and by the time i was done i thought i would reply but then i relised it was really late and i would be up forever so i figured i would reply as soon as i switch on today ^_^ ohwell dont think its to late

Hehe i think honestly if they made the topics of some interest in school you would be able to write just as much, i had a exam once where it was of tiny interest and i was able to do alot more, probberly because when its something you are interested in or you care about you can fly through the papers ^^

Meh i think i only stated the obvious with the review stuff, but best thing i can say is first time reviewing stuff make it on one your favorite animes so you gots lots to say about it, its normally alot easier to write then ^^

lol konata syndrome :D dam i think i might have that to o.o Nothing like being a otaku though ;) i wonder if konata could be considered like a goddess of otaku's O_o

Haruhi Movie Ftw :D i really did enjoy that movie, basically its just awsome on all levels with lots of plot turning events, + how many times does nagato become uber cute <3 xD  and hehe i thouguht the same when i watched luckystar, how can a show without any real form of a plot or story be interesting or good so when i began watching it i was expecting it to be some real boring thing but in reality i was shocked to see how epic it turned out to be :D

ye commercials would be more tollerable if the show was worth looking forward to, but even then they annoy me, i used to watch a hour show and its got 4 sets of commercials in it, and all them advertise stupid stuff in stupid ways... then the show returns on and its just some boring show, at least if it was anime it would be worth waiting for.

Actually thats something what made me think, technology will surpass people, if humans ever developed android's (like the ones in chobits) with minda alike humans they would actually pass us instantly in personailty as they would seem better to society then all the bad humans around >< but i would also take japan in reincarnation (if such thing was to exist) as it would be a much better place, though i hope to spend my life there one day anyways, just trying to get to that point.

haha japan would be awsome for anime :D seeing them instantly as there released and being able to discuss them with anyone ^^ though just to add, learning to speak japanese isnt all to tough, just reading/writing it is the harder part =/ but im in that boat anyways :P as i said i hope to be able to move there, and so being able to read and write it is a needed thing.

Ai college is generally better then high school, but i wont lie and say its a paradise, still got the immature ones around just some of them grown up and alot never bother going to college (but this is our colleges so dunno how yours are o.o). Haha i was the same in my last year, just think how it will all be over with soon, we in 2012 now, this is your final year in that place then you get life easy ^^

A thing like that with personalities would be nice, but it wouldnt ever happen unfortunatly. But i dont understand how people cant see that not everyone wants to be the same as each other and everyone isnt born radiating mass amounts of confidence, im sure its been something which has been around sinse forever so why does it change how where treated?

haha dont worry, we all have some bad days, what happened? some idiot at school? Good point, there nature is well suited for meeting them, actually i met several who went around everyone trying to make good friends with everyone and they do turn out to be quite the nice active people. College is good, i will never deny it gets boring but i like the fact the people there are nicer and with it being my choosen subjects im studying its quite nice, only let down is colleges over here dont have courses for japanese classes due to not many wanting to know it which is kinda a shame :( i assume somewhere as big as the US should have them though o.o

It true there, no matter what the crappy excuse they manage to conger up in there small minds it never will excuse any action they have done against people. I actually kinda agree on torture thing, i mean ok not like life threatning stuff but really shoving them through the pain they inflict on others, its one reason i always fall to the 'eye for an eye' thing, its fair justice in my eyes, they give what they get and get what they give. i agree eye for an eye should apply mentaly though, if someone makes you misserable through words and threats and insultments should they not have it back? but not by someone they know wont follow through with the threats but some big guy who looks like he'd be suited for a gang :D              i agree there alot of laws are built round 'assisting' bullies ways of life which is stupid.

Haha great point, i was going to say the same, i really like the name 'anime planet' because to a person it sounds like a planet (or in this case site) which is just full of anime and such but the reality to the sites users it's like a mental state of mind which creates its own little world or 'planet' for people, in which they converse in fun conversations about this and that, discuss there favorite animes and have some fun, the sort of life reality should be ^^ haha i know what you mean on the facebook crap, actually i think i only message chewy, one of my friends from asia and one my other friends there and thats it, i cba with much else... anime planet is my peronsal version of what the world see facebook as :D dunno what sites chewy uses though, i tried to get him to make a anime planet account some time back but he didnt want to as he was busy, dunno if thats still the case.

Ye i think the new changes would make the site more fun in general :D though never been in a Light/L moral debate if im honest, i suppose i wouldnt see a point, they both hold 2 torches with a good and bad side to each so who cares, its only a show however you see it :P

hehe 20,000 was extreeme i wouldnt worry, no essay i ever wrote from my knowledge has been able to cap such a large amount, its just how we been saying though, when its talking anime stuff on sites like this its easy to get carried into the convo :D. Though im sure you will top your record, you already got the good size responses ^^

ye with the smilies and such i get carried away, i suppose its a way of making a sentance seem lighter though, i use them commonly to sorta say im expressing something in that way.

You totally *ROCK*!  >HUGE HUGZ<  It was awesome to me just to check my email this morning and get the notification that you commented on my pitiful lil' blog entry.  I really appreciate it.

And it's great to hear from ya, too.  Hope your Holidays were smooth and restful.  Mine were great!  *^_^*

I'm ten times as bad, no worries. Happy super late New Years!

True, Mirai Nikki and Black Rock Shooter do both look amazing.

I haven't seen any of it yet(waiting till it's all out) would you say the Mirai Nikki anime is faithful to the manga? I hear it's a DeathNote/DeadmanWonderland hybrid and can barely wait.

Celty is something else. Can't say I've watched an anime with a headless person before. Shizuo is so cool too. I think when her voice is heard it's just us, the viewers, hearing it, don't you think? Like implied monologue

Cheers mate! Good stuff, did you get anything yet. I just got SteinsGate and Blue Exorcist dvds in the mail haha.

just got a new laptop, can now reply a lot faster now, so yeah

see you!

Haha 3 times must of been irritating to read xD i proberly should meke my messages shorter and easier... but i that but i know i wont :')

im the same on them short 1 word replies, someone just throws me a 'yes' or something of the sort it shows they dont really care or have no interest so i wont bother responding (how does one respond to 'ok'?) same reason i like long ones, more fun, more detail helps learn who you speaking to and of course shows the other person has interest of some sort in the conversation ^^

Haruhi is a great anime, i was the same, never felt like i thought there was anything 'special' to it (considering its lengendary known). But i got reading its book's (they didnt really cost much) and i got hooked into the epicness so i rewatched it and found it better on a whole new level, you should enjoy the movie though, its quite story based but with all the elements of the show (well dunno about you but i love kyon's narrating xD i dont normally care for naration but he makes me laugh). Lucky stars a great casual anime ^^ alot turn it down with its 'boring' first episode... i wont lie, when i first saw ep1 i thought 'wth am i watching' but i let it go on and enjoyed it :D i personaily love that weird shop guy who is obsessed with getting her to buy stuff from him xD i really enjoy lucky star for a casual thing though, when you want something fun but not to serious :) i admired konata for her Otaku ways o.o shes everything i dream to be xD

lol bye bye commercials memory ^^ well in all serious i know there needed and all but its just so nice now never seeing them, i imagine going back to them would be torture. i wish we had the life to watch them as they do in japan, just turn on tv and something good's on, instead our crap! man there comedy and story lines are so much better than ours aswell, i wouldnt be caught dead watching anything with romance genre all but a few years ago, now though i see alot i watch has some romance in it because they do it so well its interesting, theres always a story or a good joke to go with it :D

haha its true there. i see it that the further we advance the more primitive our minds become, the idea i see is we dont move, we dont technically get worst we just never get better but as everything is moving forward it would appear we move back as were sitting still watching everything move on ahead. im ashamed to be human, no wait im just ashamed to be western, i demand rebrith in japan! :D

i think its common for alot to think that way on where they live. I see england as a place i lost faith in as living here i can see the bad with my own eyes and you cant help but think everywhere else is better, i think most places are failing though. I say england is, you say america is, i been talking to a german kid who said simular about germany so it is probberly just a thing all the world is crumbling :( (reasons i wish to move to japan appear lol). Actually i bet japan aint perfect of course but i just feel it at least holds good morals and culture :P

well the thing i dislike about popular but nice ones is they still can and probberly will be influenced by others. i like to belive when people get older however they grow up a bit, when i entered college i found more mature people and no real bullies but i knew there was still alot round (i could tell just walking the corridors... so if i got a lucky nice class i dunno but i hope it was just some looked at themself when leaving school and though 'what am i doing with my life' (one can hope)

its true! why do we have to take initiative, they can and should consider who there saying this to before speaking, its not in everyones nature to grow up with full actor/actress like confidence. i actually wonder on that one 'does it ever occur to the girl to ask the guy out?' its something i ponder around alot, do they ever think this very thing? some might keep thinking if they should just do it themself or not (n i guess they decide no) but do they ever think like that or is it 'just hope he approaches me' or something? its kinda a awkward thing to ask a girl directly though is they think that way... so i never really bothered but i cant say im curious how they think on the concept. The only exception i cut is if by chance she holds a simular personailty (nervous/shy) they ok it cant be expected on either side, that was is a tough stalemate situation i guess =/

The outgoing point is a good one, outgoing friends are handy, i have gone places i objected to at first but was dragged along and in the end i have had some fun or met some new people so outgoing is good for a close friend to be. Only negative is finding them ^^ its easy to say 'it would be nice to make a outgoing friend' but meeting the person is the hard part lol suppose its a hard cycle though.

One thing i wonder with bullies is why they do it? there's so many excuses used about it being to relive stress or make em feel better about themselfs ye ok it might be true for one for 2 but not all of them!!! i think some do it to look good end off! who are they to ruin someone's life, another persons life they cant get back to feel good? i think there should be harsh law's stamped in on bullying, real punishments, not detention after class, im talking something to make the kid suffer (well suffer dont sound nice, but regret there actions) and make the parents try to raise them not to be bullies, that or just take up 'eye for an eye' (he punches me, teacher let me punch him xD) but i dont think eye for eye would do much hehehe but i would love some laws against it to really change to tide on bullies and stop it, some poor people loose there life to bullying (some are driven to suicide some get beat to death 'accidentaly' in what was meant to be a 'prank). Do bullies ever even feel guilt for that? imagine knowing you caused someone to commit suicide because you toyed with them and made em so misserable... it would kill me inside, but i suppose it doesnt change nothing these days *sigh*

I have taken a nice likeing to anime planet, but see this is what i like, most forums or sites or whatever you go to end up with people arguing and stuff but most anime sites are kind in there communities (i know not all are nice) but its always so easy to chat to one another, i just feel sad when people wont even try animes. I talk to Chewy via facebook, i said before i mainly just use facebook for messaging people, hes a example of them sort of people ^^ i will add your skype (will probberly be tomorrow or thursday though as its like 3am so when i send this im off to bed lol) i use skype time to time, not online a awful lot but when i am we can chat about this and that :P i agree, its nice getting to know someone from a online community then knowing them themself outside that community.

I think thats good for ELF. Truth be told Elfen Lied is epic and great but its hard to discuss one anime over and over, i mean man when i was fully active we tore it down to its bare roots with detail as minor as colours in clothes (lol?) but truth be told you will see new stuff and its hard not to discuss em, so without a constant stream of new members (inwhich then your just repeating yourself) you do need new area of discussion. So i think it will be a good thing how its expanding out. are all the main members ok about this? i know some will get annoyed but really i been to a few others specific anime forums (most all dead now) and they all the same, alot of activeity but they die as you cant keep centerised round one thing, nd ofcourse the more you watch the new favorites you adopt and so you get more a urge to go offtopic.

haha well longest message i sent once was to chewy on facebook, its was capped to long at 20,000 characters, so then i sent part 2 at another 18 odd thousand characters lol. i felt sorry for him readin that :P i think i do most on here to long but provided it doesnt bother you to bad i like sending em long ^^ (if they become a problem let me know and i will shorten them), i just think long = detailed and more interesting. though i retract earlier i said 3am to somthing... its 4:09am atm hehe ohwell. Also sorry for my over use of smily type faces, i have a weird thing i always have to put them in, i dunno why but ohwell.
