Hey guys and gals! I am currently a college student studying mathematics. I enjoy anime, halo, reading, heavy metal, and ballroom dancing.
Although in the end, I believe every review and rating is subjective, I like to think a little bit before I rate most of the shows I've seen, and generally try to consider several different factors, although I don't have a set formula for doing so. I enjoy discussing different viewpoints about shows I've seen, with people I've met, since I think that most people have some constructive new perspectives to contribute to my thoughts about a show, whether their opinions are positive or negative.
Up until recently, I actually spent a lot of time running an IRC chatroom that I started with some fellow ap.com-ers. Feel free to stop by, it's #ourroom on rizon.net . Although for the next few months, I'll have reduced activity in the channel, due to a personal need to concentrate on progress with my degree, I'd be happy to set up a pm session on irc, or respond to comments here on ap.com, although the response time might be somewhat slower.
I am officially looking for new anime recommendations! I need something fantastical, engrossing, preferably (although not necessarily) dark, something I can become fully immersed in, something that makes me appreciate it both as a work of art and as an exercise in thought. Kara no Kyoukai left a big impression on me and, in terms of anime anyways, I haven't really moved past it since I saw it months ago. I've seen comedies, romances, dramas, and even some more fantasy/horror stuff since then, but none of it really left me satisfied. I have an ever growing list of shows that I want to watch, most of which seem mildly promising, but in the end I wonder how many more of them will be disappointments! Please, if you think you have something that I might enjoy, let me know!

You have got a huge response incoming........... XD
ALSO, no I never watched Gundam in working memory, except that distant and mostly vague era of my childhood. However, I am no stranger to mechas and i think TTGL alone showed me what a good mecha can be. I was going to watch Gundam at one point but they have so many spin-offs (?) and like a billion different gundam shows, i dont know where to start!!!! >.< I am pretty meticulous about starting at the very beginning of anything I watch/read, it's like a OCD of sorts. It was the worst when I started reading Dragonlance novels lol.
Hey whats up? Not much is going on with me, doing anything cool this summer?
Anyways, aside from the small talk, i have started watching KnK finally :D I had to watch the first episode twice because I didn't really understand the super-philosophical dialogue and how it related to the story at first. However it is a very enticing story and I am probably gonna end up marathon-ing the rest tomorrow since I have a day off lol. Glad to hear you are liking SSY, it is truly a great show. My favorite part about it is that it opens up room for discussion regarding the issues it raises.
Lately, I also revisited a few of my former favorites and found that as I watch more anime, my take on them seems to be a bit more critical, so now I can really understand why you don't like writing reviews xD
Yes, I did just make it to a quarter of a century! Feels pretty awesome :) I'm a huge fan of anime conventions, they're awesome for re-igniting the flames of obsession each and every time I go. My favorite cosplay is my Bianchi cosplay from Katekyo Hitman Reborn--she uses "Poison Cooking" as her weapon, so I made this tray of fake cupcakes. They're pretty realistic, and I can't make it six feet in the convention without someone exclaiming, "Cupcakes!" which makes for constant entertainment. :P Bowties are a great fashion item, I wish more people would go back to them. I want to try to get movie 3 in this week, we'll see how it goes...
Konnichiwa!
Consider it done! Well then I'll get back to you tomorrow or later tonight because I was planning on watching it today. Tell me it's not as soul crushingly depressing as 5 Centimeters Per Second, I still have moments where when I think about that movie it ruins my train of thought, from that point on I'm in a melancholic mood.
