Hey guys and gals! I am currently a college student studying mathematics. I enjoy anime, halo, reading, heavy metal, and ballroom dancing.
Although in the end, I believe every review and rating is subjective, I like to think a little bit before I rate most of the shows I've seen, and generally try to consider several different factors, although I don't have a set formula for doing so. I enjoy discussing different viewpoints about shows I've seen, with people I've met, since I think that most people have some constructive new perspectives to contribute to my thoughts about a show, whether their opinions are positive or negative.
Up until recently, I actually spent a lot of time running an IRC chatroom that I started with some fellow ap.com-ers. Feel free to stop by, it's #ourroom on rizon.net . Although for the next few months, I'll have reduced activity in the channel, due to a personal need to concentrate on progress with my degree, I'd be happy to set up a pm session on irc, or respond to comments here on ap.com, although the response time might be somewhat slower.
I am officially looking for new anime recommendations! I need something fantastical, engrossing, preferably (although not necessarily) dark, something I can become fully immersed in, something that makes me appreciate it both as a work of art and as an exercise in thought. Kara no Kyoukai left a big impression on me and, in terms of anime anyways, I haven't really moved past it since I saw it months ago. I've seen comedies, romances, dramas, and even some more fantasy/horror stuff since then, but none of it really left me satisfied. I have an ever growing list of shows that I want to watch, most of which seem mildly promising, but in the end I wonder how many more of them will be disappointments! Please, if you think you have something that I might enjoy, let me know!

Yes, I was actually just working on emailing you back. Watching second season of Gae of Thrones now, so expect it within a few hours. Thanks for erasing that info, too btw!
Hi there! thx for posting :D
Your list reminds me that I should finish Beck sometime soon. I couldn't stand Guilty Crown, but you seem to not have judged it that harshly. I am interested in hearing your comments about that, as well as any thoughts about Paprika.
I enjoyed Bartender for two reasons. Largely, I like it because it was refreshingly out of the ordinary. Two, I liked the use of a small thing as a framework for larger, more human stories. I like that and I like viewing history through smaller stories about people.
Fumoffu, hmmm. I guess I didn't care for the repetetive gags. I tend to like story better than humor, even when it tends toward melodrama.
Gilgamesh is 100% creepy and dreary. I have the DVD, which made it easy to just sit down and watch through a whole disc at once. Watching things on the computer can be distracting. XD I enjoyed it because it unsettled me.
Panty/Stocking was pretty juvenile. I'm not a big fan of bathroom humor. HSotD is a completely different piece of work, and I'm intrigued that you may find them similar? What, in your opinion, makes them comparable?
Kimi ni Todoke appealed to me less because of the romance and more because of the building friendships aspect. I thought Sadako was charmingly naive. And on the romantic side, I thought Kazehaya was pretty well-balanced character for a male romantic lead.
Mushishi's narrative pace didn't bother me because I didn't even attempt to watch it all at once. One or two episodes at a time, every few days, and finished it over a long period of time, which felt a lot like reading a fantastical bedtime story. I think how you watch an anime can influence your view of it.
Seirei no Moribito was fabulous, and Toradora was forced drama all the way. I'm very glad I am not the only one with a reasonable opinion about Madoka, people really get batshit over it. (Although I will admit to having bought a Mami figure for my collection. >.>)
Yes the references were over the top and quite unnecessary, However I do believe that the lack of story seems to be somewhat intended, as it seems to focus more on the character relationship development rather than the characters themselves. But as I mentioned, I didn't really like the male lead's typecast in general as it is used pretty frequently.
Konnichiwa!
Hey :) I just finished nisemonogatari, which I feel wrapped up bakemonogatari pretty well, but other than that I have been too busy with school to start up anything new :p how about you? How are you liking shin sekai yori so far?
