More about Hell Girl: I have been told that near the end of the anime, the show starts getting into Hell Girl's personal story more and shows a bit more motivation as to why she acts as she does. Which is a reason to cause me to consider revisiting the series. But I don't really want to sit through 26 episodes of the same story told the same way 26 times when I don't particularly LIKE the basic premise.

(Not fair to me that the vengeance seeker has to give up their soul for eternity to Hell to get the revenge that they basically DESERVE to have because of the craptacular actions of the antagonist towards them and the ones they love. To me, the revenge gained to send the bad guys to hell is NOT worth having the protagonist ALSO end up there as well. To me, that's just stupid.)

Regarding Btooom! - I didn't say it was a GREAT anime, I just stated that I was pleasantly surprised at how much better it was than I thought it was going to be. It's a decent survival anime done with enough suspense and action to keep me interested each episode even though the plot is just a survival game plot. One that is done a bit better, although it has a bit of a WTF ending is GANTZ. Note however that this anime is explicit in violence and gore and stuff. Btooom! is a milder and friendlier entertaining alternative to that.

PS Took a quick look at your Want to Watch list and saw Another and Btooom! listed. Both of these anime were ones that surprised me at how much better they were than I thought they were going to be. Another, especially, works as one of those rare successful horror anime. Suspense without too much gore, and a bit of a mystery thrown in as well.

Speaking of horror done badly, I personally could not stand Jigoku Shoujo. I only watched two episodes before I dropped it like a hot rotten potato, as the second episode was essentially the same exact story as the first, with different characters and slightly different revenge reason. And previews for the third episode showed it was going to be more of the same. I don't need to see 26 episodes/variations of the same story told over and over again. Ugh.

There -are- those that for some reason, really enjoyed Hell Girl. Just don't count me among them.
