Skip Beat! is a laugh-out-loud, riot of a romantic comedy. That's pretty much all I can say for it. The anime doesn't have very much high-quality substance to it other than comedy.
Kyoko is a very loveable and quirky female lead, but I really feel that the other characters in this anime are very lacking. Others may disagree, but I watched this anime after reading the manga and was disappointed at how the anime prioritized comedy over character development.
The anime is a severe disjustice to the manga. Hardly any of the plot and careful thought put into the manga survived the transition to the TV screen.
My recommendation? Skip the anime. Read the manga.
