about me

Hi, Madoka here :)

I'm one of them helpful type people who like to be of use, so if you need to know anything about the site or just want help finding a new series to watch, i will help in anyway i can (can't promise for the new series though lol). My personal preferences in series are quite large, im a big fan of slice of life, school life, comedy and pretty much any dectective type series (Gosick,Kamisama no Memo-chou  ect). That being said i watch most genres like action, sci-fi, horror and well just... anything. Only genre i don't put effort into is sport, not my thing, i usually find them quite boring.

I love talking so if you need help witn anything, watched a series i have seen and want to discuss it, want to just chat about anything from anime to what you plan to have for dinner, whatever, just leave me a message and i will try to reply within the week.
Im a big fan of the forum here so drop by if you wish to join us, we are very friendly people and love to talk. (I Especially hang out in the "currently airing series" section).

I don't have much more to say so here are some series i like, this isn't a top list of favourites or anything, i have too many series i could never choose favourites from, so it's just a random list of some series i have really enjoyed in some way or another:

Random list:
(Here is the random list with some personal comment, i used to write a lot more but to be spacious i kept it shorter). Remember these aren't favourites per-say, they are deffinetly some great series and amoungst some i love but not all assured are favourites, i tried to cover 1 series of at least the main genres...

Don't feel obligated to read this list, i keep adding to it so it gets longer but im trying to shorten it.

Yuruyuri is actually a series which is a favourite of mine, i love the style of comedy and the characyers are great, it's a great example of SOL/SL series. The comedy never feels to old and you find yourself attached to characters quite easily, i never find any episode feeling like it was made as a filler and i find it all so enjoyable. It also features my favourite soundtrack :)

Hanasaku Iroha

This is another great series, Some people have overlooked it but it's quite a well told story. It is actually quite serious, though it does have it's laid back side as well, the story tactles similar events which could happen in reality as Ohana gets a dose of reality, she is forced out of dreamworld to tactle hard working and sad results, life isn't always a matter of work hard for results, and this series shows that, With great OP(s)/ED(s) mostly done by Nano.RIPE (my favourite JP band) it's a great series for sure!

Darker Than Black (Kuro no Keiyakuya)

A series more in the supernatural/action genre set, The series to me is very well done, People gained abilities after a certain gate appeared on the earth, certain people it was pretty random but now these people are silently hunted down and commonly accused of crimes they don't commit which brings in lots of action, of course many use the powers for bad anyway. The story is actually very well told with lots of detail and the second of the series is quite more serious of i found it to be quite sad at times, but non the less a very enjoyable watch indeed.

Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Boku-tachi wa Mada Shiranai (Ano Hana)

First let me say this is a series not to be taken lightly, it was a well written masterpiece of art and i think if you haven't seen it you should asap. The series tackles grief and how it effects people over time from childhood right through into later life. I think it is a good idea to have some tissue ready for the eyes as it's a real sad story and i can't speak for others but i was a victim of tears to this series, a amazing watch and strongly suggested to try.

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai

Now normally i link to the first season but i choose the second in this case. Higurashi is a great series in the horror genre, it's not scarey as it is gorey, and though the first season is great it is split into indivual parts, though these all link and the second season explains it i found the second season to be something else, it is great and full of constant consistent plot, it keeps you watching for hours, gore and horror aside the story line for me was just amazing.

If you like visual novels, like me know... I love them :D i played a few, not loads but the numbers are adding up, if you enjoy them, let me know i love talking about them D:

Now ima Add Random image of Nagato >:D

(thats pretty dam awsome) anyways i love 'The Disapearance of Haruhi Suzumiya', Yes the real reason Nagoto is sitting here so nicely is because it's my favourite movie ^_^

Like Music? Me Too :D Add My Last.Fm or just see if i have any music taste alike you? Or heck come by and just say hi or see what music i got on at that second ^^

This is just a quick note on how i recomend stuff and how i like to be different fro others in this area. It's common for people who recommend stuff to only do it because shared genre types or minor things. so someone might say "if you like romance you will enjoy this because it's got some high school romance" or "these two are alike because both share a love story between a xxx guy and a tsundere girl", or "you will like these two because they contain gore", i don't just do this but actually explain what is alike. I never recommend by genre alone and rare link two series just because they contain a killer or gore or whatever. So if two series Genre match i wont recommend unless they are alike.

Of course rec's have to be short so i try to keep it short, "you might like xxx series because xxx and yyy share a similar plot and develop in a similar fasion, both contain a focus on mystery solving or similar comedy" is the sort of thing (in short) to expect, of course a little more detail will be present, that's just a example so i can't say much.

So just remember, i rec by how similar a series is and what aspects are alike, not that ganre the series is or if it is gorey or not. To end here, thanks for reading my page and thanks if you have made use of any of my recs :)

True. The ideal way to go about things. Gotta tell that voice in my head to slow down and just enjoy the things I want to do. Theres no crime If I don't get 100% on an assignment, or completing a game or anime by a certain point.

With the other .Hacks I've seen so far I'm pretty disappointed. Mainly Liminality and Legend of the Twilight. Liminality was bearable due to good music but it was pretty boring otherwise. The art didn't have as much life in it. Haven't gotten that "Damn this is going to be an awesome series" feeling since sign. As you said Sign is an excepition. Of course with the music, but also the whole story around Tsukasa, Mimiru, and several of the others. The characters from the other series aren't so "wow". Its strange because if the 1st part of a long series is totally epic, you would expect the others of the same series to hold that epicness. Not the case for .Hack thou. Suppose its better to have the 1st part be better than to have the final or next to final one be epic while the ones before it weren't very good. At least we got some awesome from this series in that way.

Considering what the big modern gaming industries are like nowadays (I'm looking at you Call of Duty, Halo, Assassin's Creed) the only games that are awesome and still playable are Jrpgs and some of the old school classics. Heck, I want to buy several more jrpgs now but I haven't even started some of them sitting in the collection collecting dust. Even ones that are beaten must be replayed for the New Game Plus elements. Gotta do those 1st before doing new ones. (same possibly goes for certain manga as well)

That's good to know :) It does help to see other people also have the same problems in college. (so I know I'm not the only one having problems) I still haven't adapted like you say. How much do you typically study for classes?

Anti heroes anyday over a real "hero". While justice can have many definitions it is better carried out by an antihero. This also reminds me of something I learned about Code Geass recently. Did you see the sub or dub? You may know this already if you saw the sub. I watched the whole series dubbed, it was pretty much one of the only series I watched dubbed anyway. at the ending when C2 says "Isn't that right? Lelouch?" it ends there. Since there was no absolute proof that Lelouch lived, logically I believed that depsite what C2 said that Lelouch was dead. But when a friend showed a video of the difference between the sub and dub, I saw that the sub actually showed Lelouch as the driver of that wagon. It hit me as a big wow. So Lelouch is alive. It is crazy. It shouldn't be a problem since I always try to find subs (I only watch dubs If I absolutely can't find subs. Hasn't happened since 2009/10) but it is very important to stick to subs. It is astonishing what details one can miss from watching a dub.. Big eye opener for sure on me.

Japanese and German. At the very least it would be great to learn those languages. It seems like if you learn 2 languages while you're young then you'll remember both of them forever pretty much. It makes sense that because the mind is still developing that it can store more information. Thou it gets much harder to take in info when you get older. It sucks to acknowledge this. Even if its the truth I still deny it. It would be good to think that it is still possible to acquire a huge volume of knowledge without putting in years to study on one topic.

Brain chips would be interesting. Especially one that could hold even just 50 yottabytes of info. It would possibly be enough to carry all of the world's discovered knowledge, every program in existance, and everyone's memories. Such a great idea. Having the knowledge of many PHD degrees without having to work so hard and retaining it forever. Who wouldn't want to take that?

It sounds like a great goal to have, to be that type of person. Regardless of what happens being able to remain a fun person that's good to be around is a great achievement if you can do it. It more than likely takes a strong will to do it. I hope you will be able to do it as your brother has. Your brother sounds like a good role model that many people would look up to.

I want to do that as well. I'm worried that I don't have as strong a will thou. It feels like I'm losing the battle to a demon that is trying to bring out your negative emotions and keep you feeling sad and angry. I've had to fight it very hard. Though I'm not sure how successful I've been. Even thou nothing bad has happened now. I still have feelings/ memories from high/middle school that keep emerging and try to interfere with the present. Its the work of the demon most likely. To acquire that strong will seen from many characters in anime. The demon must be defeated and I must focus on the present and the stuff to look forward to. Only then may a sense of a happiness come and with it a fair view on the world of tomorrow.

Yup, I kinda went off too. It is pretty fun to read these stories. Hopefully you also enjoy mine. And hope everything is going well for ya.

This may be a cause for concern. For the last few months I've mainly been doing video games instead of anime. And thinking about all the games I want to play/anime to watch may be causing unessacary stress. It may be a good idea to stop worrying and just enjoy each activity as you're doing them?

I've seen some good anime lately. Particularly .Hack//Sign. Looking at your list it looks like you've also seen several of the .Hack series. And my concern looks real. So far .Hack//Sign was the best of what I've seen so far. Especially Yuki Kaijura's music which pretty much made me watch it. The other ones aren't as good it looks like?

D. Gray Man was a special case. Before I resorted to using anime exclusive streaming sources and fansubs. I was able to see up to ep. 50 but couldn't watch more than that. As a result I forgot about it as I moved on to other anime. Though I'm glad I finished it. Doesn't look like I'll be able to easily watch that many episodes like how I did with Inuyasha.

It seems the main games I'm playing are mainly jrpgs. Haven't had as much interest in other types of games that don't in some way have an anime art style. It may be because of the common concept in a jrpg called a new game+. It is a great concept. Especially if the game has a great story. Too bad it isn't used more often.

I know that feeling. It gets tougher to reply consistantly. Hopefully that 3 week break you mentioned will come soon.

Yup, College is a pretty different experience othewise. I still have my old high school habits thou. It makes it pretty tough at times. Idk how to study well..

That would be what an antihero is. Of course I would consider Light to be a little more hero than antihero like thou since some wouldn't agree he should be an antihero. Lelouch and Lucy are also antiheros which are likely why they are so awesome.

Yeah it is a shame that it is so difficult to learn languages. Why it is so difficult. I don't understand. Spending years to figure out just one different way of talking. It feels like a ripoff. This is where I get into my ideal/wish mode. If we could all just know all the languages of the world. Communication would be much easier.

It also applies to schools and things as well. Animals in the wild like snakes, birds, and Deer are born with the knowledge they need to survive. Why do humans have to work so hard just to learn how to survive? If a world existed where everyone knew everything nessacary (plus stuff they might not use). There wouldn't be as much of a need for schools. Maybe a year or so. Imagine a 4 year old being college educated in all subject areas. It sounds like an interesting idea to allow everyone to have that. People could focus on different things that need fixing. Children could get jobs and add to problem solving. Eventually it could add to an utopia if it works out well.

It is ok. College and work make things very busy. It sucks not having as much time to do the fun things. All we can do is hope the breaks will come and that we enjoy them. Otherwise hope you're doing well

I may've found some solutions to get back into watching more anime. It seems to be working so far. Focus on long series you can get into and invest in. No searching for new anime as much that may/may not be great. It seems crazy that I can watch 50 episodes to a 100 episode series in just 3 days while some 13 episode animes may take weeks to finish. Dunno may depend on how interesting the anime is.

Love your new Icon also!! Can't tell who it is sadly. It is interesting to see how people change their icons overtime.

Its been awhile since we've last talked though. It may be hard to remember your previous reply. With everyone it seems like I'm taking longer to reply back and I don't know why. No worries on being late. It looks like I've taken a month to get back to a few people. Theres more college and stuff as well.

Louise is a void magician. Interesting. I imagine in that show void magicians are very powerful? Its cool when a character sounds weak but is actually very strong. Its like they haven't shown their true power yet.

A lot of people don't have problems naming off their favorite heroes it seems like. Though I can't say I really enjoy any heroes, it is hard to see how their "justice" really helps when the same "villains" keep remerging. One of my friends irl also doesn't have any favorite heroes. (she's seen Higurashi, Elfen Lied, many others) Antiheroes on the other hand. They're easy to come up with favorites. Random question, have you seen any new anime recently with an antihero similar to someone like Light or Lucy? More antiheroes are always worth checking out.

Speaking of living in Japan. One of my relatives is living there and going to school there right now. I'm so jealous thou, to think he is doing what we really wish to do. He's been learning Japanese from a pretty young age but still. There needs to be a way to easily learn any language. Then we can pack our bags and move. It can be hard to dream of a better world. Its worse since you know it could be better but it isn't. Just more of my thoughts coming out, dreaming of an ideal utopia. Even if Japan isn't an utopia it is a step closer to getting there. A free society with safety, art, and equality. That would be the best!

Otherwise hope school is going well for you as well.
